Bacteroidetes bacteria

What is Bacteroidetes bacteria?
How The Bacteria In Your Gut Can Make You Fat

Giving more credence to infectobesity, the study of microbes and viruses in your gut that may be responsible for some cases of obesity, a new study confirms the presence of different microbes swimming in the intestines of overweight patients versus their slimmer peers.

Scientists discovered the imbalance after comparing the microbes extracted from the guts of lean and obese mice and 12 humans (seven of whom were obese). The bacteria found in humans centered largely on two groups: Firmicutes that were more plentiful (a 20 percent increase) in obese patients and bacteroidetes (almost 90 percent less) that weren't.

Even more compelling, obese patients lowered the number of firmicules in their guts after following either a low-fat and low-carb diet for 12 months and boosted the amount of bacteroidetes (although these levels never reached the amount of similar microbes found in slimmer patients).

Influencing the bacteria growing in your body for the positive is easy by making better food choices, starting with reducing, with the plan of eliminating, sugars and most grains from your daily diet.

Even more impressive evidence that proves the nutritional cause of many diseases is related to an imbalance of bacteria in your gut, a problem easily rectified by taking a high quality probiotic.

OK so people who aren't obese have more of this Bacteroidetes bacteria in their guts - so you basically want to take this bacteria to help you lose weight? I'm thinking sensible diet and exercise is probably more efficient than adding in bacteria

The "Luqaimat Diet" that may save US$ 174 Billion
By Prof. Dr. Mohamed Elhashemy
January 26, 2008
The American Diabetes Association is the authoritative source of information about diabetes in the United States. In January 23rd, 2008, it announced the following important facts:

1. Uncontrolled diabetes has soared in USA.

2. There are increments of nearly one million diabetic patients every year.

3. The cost of diabetes is summation of:

a. Cost of direct medical care.

b. Cost of loss of productivity.

4. The cost of diabetes has swelled 32% since 2002.

5. The cost exceeded 174 billion US$ last year.

6. The main cost comes from kidney failure that results from uncontrolled diabetes. Such costs are mainly of dialysis and kidney transplants.

7. The soar increase in the number of uncontrolled diabetic patients may result in diverting education funds to compensate for the increase in costs of managing diabetes.

8. Diabetes kills more than quarter a million Americans every year.

It is well known that the main predisposing cause for diabetes type 2 is overweight or obesity, which is mostly the direct result of overeating. In my opinion, the main cause for overeating is false feeling of hunger sensation.

My scientific diet plan, which will be explained in detail in my first diet book "The Luqaimat Diet" upcoming in September 2nd, 2008, depends on using "Smart Luqaimat" (which stands for micro-meals made of selective food types) in inducing the following effects among others:

1) Suppressing hunger hormone (Ghrelin), hence suppressing both hunger and gluttony brain centers;

2) Boosting the satiety hormones such as: PYY, Leptin, and Obestatin;

3) Establishing hippocampal neuroplasticity through visual, auditory, and psychological cues;

4) Activating the "Skinny Gene";

5) Activating the Brown Adipose Tissue (BAT);

6) Sense of cortical satiety through stimulation of the proprioceptor nerves of the tongue;

7) Increasing the proportion of Bacteroidetes bacteria in the gut in relation to Firmicutes bacteria. Bacteroidetes is the type of flora that help in reducing body weight through digesting less carbohydrates, hence providing less calories to the body from the same amount of food intake.

I developed a strategy of smart using of Luqaimat, by which I use certain types of food repeatedly each day to establish a specific biological effect. This effect may benefit obesity in patients when combined with hypertension, diabetes, constipation, or psychological depression.

According to the above strategy, I advised my obese diabetic patients to eat specific types of Luqaimat consisting mainly of low-fat dairy products such as cheese cubes and / or yogurt; several times daily. The target of this was to change the bacterial flora and to induce boosting of PYY (the satiety hormone). The benefit behind eating such Smart Luqaimat every 1.5 - 3 hours leads - among other effects – is lowering blood sugar to normal level within few weeks. This innovated way of managing blood sugar of diabetics through special types of Luqaimat, can assist in preventing damaging the kidneys, hence this may save US$ 174 Billion of diabetes-related losses in USA alone.
A new diet to look forward to.. :D
