It has been 2-3 months since my last post/questions.. I just want to talk a bit here and maybe question at the same time.

Back in June I posted something here.. my mum prohibits me to go(es) on diet and hit(s) the gym (due to the covid in my beloved country). So I started to do the workout with an app that guided me. Months passed, I modified it because it was boring and I'm bored doing the same thing, plus the national exam for univ/college (SAT type) (yeah, I got a seat in a ministry/government owned polytechnic..). I asked my friends and came up with this; 100 push ups, sit ups, and the squat kick punching wanna be kung-fu combo (yes I came up with the last thing). My experience with push ups kinda.. bitter sweet. I hate this type of thing and want to punch it so bad if this were a person, but now it is kinda sweet for me. I can do the 1 leg strict push ups now (the one that put your hands beside your chest..). The thing that tingled me is I don't diet.. so.. it's not getting skinnier.. but it's getting the curve or buff.. idk if those are muscle (I hope so..) and my chest and stomach are getting widened or stretched. and my thighs have the muscle that kinda popped up.. is that bad? although I'm looking for an exercise that can make my BUTT BUFF HELLA BUFF. but dam im hella THICC..

My question.. is this good or bad..
I'm looking forward to lift too but disease won't go away (even after "covid covid go away, go back another day" thing)

Welcome back and congrats on getting accepted for your new school! Here´s a link to your previous thread:

As far as I can tell your mother only objects to strict diets, right? So it would be ok with her if you ate a little (say 10-20%) less with every meal? Or if you had a piece of fruit instead of sweets/desserts? (Unless you´re still not eating any sugar of course.) You really don´t need a specialized program to lose weight: just reducing the total amount is enough for most people.

I agree! Cutting your calories to less than you burn is the only way to lose weight, and it does work. And the simplest way is to do as LaMa says and just eat less. If you do it by eliminating the higher calorie lower nutrient things that helps. Your exercise plan looks good to me, if you can do 100 pushups I am impressed.

Congrats getting into the polytechnic!

Yes. I'm manipulating the intake by fruits.. it helps as long as I got the stock. I really want my body to get buff/jack up. I guess cutting the carbo may help..? idk.. for sure. Thanks so much!

The day goes on.. I think it gets boring.. I should arrange new exciting way to hold and upgrade my physics. Is it really safe to go to the gym? I'm afraid if I get exposed by touching other's sweat..
Thanks so much!

No carb may not even be necessary (you´re young and active: I´m guessing you´re burning plenty of energy) but reducing your carb portion size sounds like a good way to bring your calories down. How safe the gym is depends on how busy it is, how well-ventilated, and whether you can disinfect what you use (mostly the things you touch with your hands because hands have a tendency to touch your mouth/nose/eyes unthinkingly; unless you have open sores you´re not getting this virus through skin). But biking, swimming, walking, running, and other outdoor activities are probably best for now. Push-ups, pull-ups, and squats/lunges exercise most of the large muscle groups in your body and are a good start if strength is what you´re interested in. Just be mindful of correct form.

It may be worth chatting with the people that run the gym regarding what changes have been made for the virus. My gym has made lots of changes and to be honest I feel a lot safer in there than in any shops here... At my gym they have moved the treadmills so that there is at least 6 foot between each one and similar changes throughout... Time slots need to be booked beforehand to make sure that there are not too many people there at any time and everyone uses sanitiser as they go in... Sanitisers and sanitiser-wipes are available to clean equipment that you use... For classes they have marked out the hall so that people are properly spaced out - and the level of ventilation has been checked compared to guidelines for each specific type of exercise. You may be lucky too.

In addition to what LaMaria and Omega have said about the gym, the other variable is how much infection there is in the community where you are, In some locations it may not be a good idea due to high community transmission whereas in areas like mine with almost no cases then going to the gym with good precautions should be fine.

My city has the highest rate in my country, maybe I need more guts and explanations for my mum to go there. Without a doubt, I (will) postpone it.

The last time I checked, the equipments are packed. Small gap.. but at least it's cheap, my city still issued the distancing policy/law. In other word, gyms are closed.. not every single one of them.

Dam, If I eat no carbo.. my mum surely kick my butt.. rice is the NUMBER ONE COMMODITY here.. no rice means you haven't eat, even if you eat a set of t-bone steak. I'm trying to do the weird form of push ups and squats.. I may need to start running. I used an airwalker few months ago before the pump just detached. Does airwalker have the same efficiency alike treadmill/even running? maybe no..

That's why it's a good thing you don't have to skip carbs completely. Just reduce the portion by a third and leave everything else normal.
An Airwalker is an elliptical trainer, right? I find that depending on speed and resistance I can burn as many calories on the elliptical as while running the same amount of time.

re: rice & essential amino acids... consider adding peas (or any number of other legumes).

Rice protein is high in cysteine and methionine but low in lysine.
Pea protein is low in cysteine and methionine but high in lysine.

Growing Peas

Yes I'm reducing in the shadow.. HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT. I don't use machine for leg again tho.. they are broken.. nowadays I just do the weird form of chest exercise and abs exercise.

It means the two in combination give you a more complete protein profile than rice on its own. That gets important when you eat very few protein sources and/or most of them are plant-based. As long as you eat a variety of foods you should be good though.

How about.. Rice, meat, and green.. sometime with an egg.. is that good enough? Oh and reduced rice.. the portion is reduced..

I'm really sorry about my really late reply, I got admission dilemma and decided something different which I hope is the best and will be the best for my future career.

No worries! The internet remembers. Meat contains all amino acids you need; it's only with plant protein where you have to keep an eye out if your diet is one-sided.
