well, here I am 28 years old, 3 children, and awesome husband and about 43lbs overweight! I have been doing low carb for the last 4 weeks and have dropped 12 lbs but it doesn't seem to show! I'm in a size 14-16 and would like to be in a 8 but would be happy in a 10 and weighing about 145-150. I had a baby on the 5th of July and would like to at least be at 150 by her birthday! I work from 9-6 everyday and come home cook, clean ad do laundry...take care of a baby and one of my boys is autistic! I don't have much time to go to the gym so I really need something inexpensive that I can do at home and wouldn't take tiume away from my family....any suggestions would help! Thanks for all the support I know I'm going to get!!:D

Granted I imagine your children are little, but one idea of burning some extra calories, how about a "exercise time" with your family? Walks int he evenings, or fun activites in the house, all doing jumping jacks together or something like that! I say this as something we used to do when I worked at an in-home day care, we had exercise time with the kids. That way not only do your children learn something to, bu you also burn a few calories. Also, workout dvd's are helpful too.

Have you thought of getting up a wee bit earlier, and working out in the mornings before anyone else is rolling out of bed? Not only do you get a work out but you get some personal alone time, which can be something really limited for moms! :)

Just a few ideas..hope this is some what helpful!! Good luck!! 13lbs is GREAT!! Way to go!!

how about putting on some dance music and dancing with the kids? i dont know how old they are but if they are young they will love joining in. :) what kind of work do you do? is it possible to walk on your lunchbreak or for a half hour in the AM before you leave?

thanks

Thanks for some great advice... I am a medical office manager and work through my lunch.By the way my children are 9 (boy), 10 (boy) and 7 months (girl)...I think I'm on my own as far as exercising goes and I should get up earlier and I do have a million and 1 excuses as to why I don't. My husband goes to work at 6 am and I should get up when he leaves to have a hour and a half to myself but, I don't get to bed until 12 and the baby has me up a couple times....EXCUSES!!! I KNOW!!!

Tomorrow I am going to try getting up at 6:30am......tomorrows a new day, right???

Hi Aubreesmom!

Is there any way your husband can keep the kids for like an hour while you work out? I dont know what your weather is like, but I used to have to wait till he got home to do mine..

Right after my daughter was born seven years ago, I used to push her in the stroller upppp and dooowwn the hills, and managed to lose about thirty pounds in three months. The bigger the baby got , the harder I had to push those hills! His hours back then were messed up, so I probably did this several times a week. It liked to killed me, but I managed. Unfortunately, I didnt keep it up. My son was about eight back then, and HE was much harder to keep up with, as he's one of these wirey types that had to conquer each and every small cliff on the side of the road.

If I had to get up at five, like some courageous women here DO, I doubt Id last very long, but thats just me!

Congrats on what youve lost so far! thats quite an accomplishment!

hi aubreesmom! Sounds like we are planning to lose about the same amount of weight. I have three kids too, so I completely understand the finding the time I dont know if this would be a good option for you, but I will tell you what I did. We are on a very tight budget right now, so going to a gym isnt an option at this time. I did, however, take 200 dollars and buy an inexpensive treadmill. It was hard to spend the money, but I really needed something to help me exercise.

I like it because I can get on it when its convenient for me. If the kids are quietly watching Spongebob, I can sneak in a 30 walk. I can walk if they are sleeping, or quietly playing. It gives me a lot of leeway in when, and for how long I exercise. So far I have been using it everyday and I think it has helped me lose some weight so far.

Welcome to the forum! I have found this place and all the people to be such an inspiration. I am sure you will too. :)

Well, I'm starving but of course I'm at work and have no time to eat lunch...I already know that it's not good!! There is still snow on the ground here and man is it cold!!!! Anyway, I don't know if I had metioned that I'm doing low carb,,uugghhh! Anyway, heres what I had to eat yesterday

Congrats on starting your diary and your weight loss journey. I am looking to lose about the same amount as you, also hoping to go from a size 14 to an 8 (but would be happy with a 10 too). I bought an elliptical from the Sharper Image. They have an auction section on their site with "Like-new" products so it was prety inexpensive.

I was watching this program on tv the other day, some show where they pair wine with meals. Anyway, they made this cracker out of cheese on the show and it was so simple, it took like 3 minutes. I wish had known about it when I was low carbing.

Here's the recipe: http://www.fineliving.com/fine/pairings_with_andrea/article/0,2498,FINE_23436_4113383,00.html
