Assisted Push Ups

Is there any assisted push up machine out there? I know they have assisted dips and pull-ups, but I've never seen anything for pushups. I know it would be a little more difficult to do (havent really thought about it much, but can't think of any great way to do it so far), but I know there are many overweight people who can hardly do 2 pushups and would definitely benefit from a machine like this. Thanks for any help.

I haven't heard of an assisted pushup machine, but what I get clients to do sometimes is to do pushups on an incline to make them easier to start with. For example, you could use a flat bench in the gym and build up the number of reps that you can do, then progress to a lower bench and eventually to the floor. At home, you can use a staircase. So at the beginning, you might aim for completeling 10 pushups on the 5th step up, then when you can do, say, 3 sets of 10 easily, then go down to the 4th step, then the 3rd, and eventually from the floor.

Many extremely overweight people can start with push ups against the wall, or with a stability ball or medicine ball against the wall at shoulder height.
