So what gives  sugar subs. are they a safe alternative? the're are so many out there, is there a better choice?
i know alot of you are going to say water, and that's the best choice there is but what about when you want something sweet and not to high in cals?
anybody have any suggestions?

I've heard Splenda is the best.

Equal and Sweet n low has aspartame which is pretty bad for you. It can effect your memory and things like that.

My dad is diabetic and has been using sweet n low for years. Since he's been using splenda it seems he's more alert and stuff.

guys splenda is not that much better at all!! just google it and read the sites that are unbiased and more scientific.
the best one i've found so far is the sugar alcohols. xylitol has about 40% less calories than sugar but best of it all is that it's GI index is really really really low. so it's really not much of a refined sugar at all. no blood sugar spikes :)

holy cow! i knew it was bad but i had no idea it that bad.
thanks guys, i guess the diet coke is gone. any diet drinks out there that doesn't have this stuff in it? let me know. :)
for now i'll just stick to water :)

A few years back I heard that sugar substitutes gave you brain tumors, I thought this was hilarious until one of my mates who owned a pub got one….he didn’t drink alcohol he only drank diet coke. Coincidence maybe? I don’t know but I don’t want to find out either.

I use splenda sparingly..but I try not to give it to my kids at all. I am trying to limit sugar totally. I have to say though.. I am addicted to crystal light in my water..I only use a 1/4 of the recommended amt in my large 32 oz but i hate drinking it w/ out it. Im starting to wonder if its got drugs in it... cuz i find i jones for it!

aspartame not all bad

Hi

I would like to point out that although there are a lot of websites saying how bad aspartame is there is actually no evidence to support there claims in fact there is tons of scientific studies that show aspartame to be as safe as any other food. Check out and .

hmmm when i got sick i stopped using aspartame and switched to splenda. but since i switched to splenda i have been having shortness of breath. could be coincidence i dont know. im having a hard time drinking my coffee with nothing in it but cut down to only 1 or 2 cups recently and only using 1 packet instead of 2 to see if it gets any better. it may not matter tho because i read sometimes the effects from these sweeteners can become permanent. i guess i could use sugar but im scared to gain weight. but i think i prefer breathing!

They're bad for your teeth also...mine are in the worst shape. I'd been drinking soda's for years and then I started drinking a lot of coffee and its goine from bad to worse, even though I go to the dentist enough to get it taken care of. It's the one thing I hate most about myself is my smile becuase of my teeth. People still tell me I have a great smile, but I can't bring myself to do it too much because of my teeth.
