Sport Article: eating fatty foods impairs short term memory and training

Sport Fitness
Of course we all know that very fatty foods aren't good for us.

This article is about a study on rats finding treats in a maze. They were all trained to know the maze, and then half the group was switched to a high-fat rat kibble.

Within just a couple days the high-fat group starting showing less ability to remember the maze without making a mistake.

They also performed worse on a treadmill.

just kind of interesting to ponder.

studies on mice and nutrition suck as far as applying it to humans. Try to read what they fed the mice, it probably consists of lard, oil and sugar.

LOL

omg!!

the two of you are perfect for each other

maybe the mice were still innterested, but their arteries wouldnt provide the blood and oxygen to show enthusiastic movement.

I wanna know if the fattened mice taste better than the lean ones.

agreed...to an extent.
I think the article mentioned the 'fatty' food was 50% fat, which is quite a lot.

still in an anecdotal way it makes sense: people that eat poorly have problems staying on a training regimen, possibly because their high saturated fat diet is making their brain and energy levels fight against them.

I don't think 50% fat would be determinal at all. Maybe on a ketogenic diet high intensit exercise and some cognitive functions might be impaired, but I doubt it on a 50% fat diet. I'd really like to see the human study, but they said it hadn't been published yet.

yeah but if they are femal mice they are fat anyway? do they have mice-menstral cycles?

plus females have lil brains and are lazier
