Here it is, I am a 5'5" 224lb male. Went from a pant size 28-29 to a 38 within about 5 years.

Today I decided to begin to do something about my weight gain. I started with a 40 min low impact video and got demoralized quickly when not even 1/2 through it I was on the floor gasping for air.

Now, I really need a community's help to get talking and motivated to not feel so bad about my fitness.

I have started to take Cate's (thank you Cate) advice and I dumped out a soda I was drinking and also opted out of adding butter to a dish I was making (butter was optional).

So small steps. Tomorrow I will try to get further in that video and maybe... Just maybe at the very least split the video up into two parts 1st half in the morning and 2nd half in the afternoon.

Anyway thanks for reading this.

Welcome to the forum :)

Welcome again! And I'm looking forward to reading about your story as you go on - I'm pretty sure there's going to be a steady countdown from 224 to 200 and below. :)

Tonight I am trying to make more of a thoughtful effort to drink more water... I am wondering if I should add in some lemon to the water in the fridge or perhaps just add it as I drink it.... Hmm. Probably the later.

Hey Aristol, welcome to the forum. Starting this diary was a great idea, you will get a lot of good advice and support. I see between here and your newcomer post you have already attracted the attention of some pretty wise people. I won't try to add to their advice.

It does sound like you are a good father and have a good family, that should be a big help to you. You know your wife and I don't but I suspect she can be talked into supporting you. When I first started my current diet my wife was a bit skeptical, and for good reason I had talked a lot about dieting in the past and it was mostly just talk. Once she saw I was serious she began to support me, and its been a great help. Hopefully something like that could work for you. But again, I don't know you or your wife and you do, I am sure you'll figure out the right thing to do.

Best of luck to you, and I look forward to reading about your progress!

That "small" step you mention of dropping the sodas as drink-of-choice is likely to have a great impact.
Yes, if you can have the lemons to hand (every house should have a lemon tree!) it's probably better to squeeze it in fresh, but having the drink made up in a jug in the fridge is really handy when you come in hot and just want to chug it down! Maybe just make up a fresh jug every day or two - just topping up the same jug with more water and more lemon will make it unappealing after a few days.

Great job so far on the weight loss... Are you still losing weight? This forum is a great place to continue on your success!!!
