Argghh.. what do i do????

after so many unsucessful half hearted attempts at losing weight i have finally decided that "this is it" not only do i need to lose weight but this time i actually want to too!

Problem im having is i dont know where to begin?? I dont want a faddy diet i want to learn how to eat properly for life but without feeling like im robbing myself of anything nice. I hated diets in the past that made me feel like i was sinning for having sweet things or chocolate.

I was thinking of trying calorie counting or "smaller portions", this way I can still have my treats as lng as theyre included in the calories??? Anybody else doing it this way? and is it working???

I just feel so confused by it all but this time i really dont want to give up... any help would be fantastic!

:D

yes, i do a 1200 cal diet and i've lost 30 pds doing it!! I LOVE my 1200 cal diet b/c I can have the occasional chocolate as long as I count the cals. Of course, make sure you get plenty of fruits, veggies and water! But chocolate is not a no no on this diet!

I'm thinking I will probably always stay around that 1200..even after i'm done dieting...maybe i'll kick the number up a bit??? but i doubt it

I dont like chocolate much, thank GOD, but then my downfall is usually beer. And yes, Ive indulged twice now. not much, just a few.

A good start is 30 minutes of cardio a day, at least 5 times a week, 10 glasses of water a day(i do a gallon), and 1200 calories(some days more some less, to keep the body guessing) I try to eat more protein if I have it, and if I cheat, I do it as a planned thing and definitely count the cals. I even keep certs or tic tacs in my purse if I get a sweet tooth attack. And believe me, I do!

Read the diaries, and find something you like and stick with it. Weigh yourself once a week if you can do that(hard for a lot of us!) and write a diary of your food and exercise.

I am also on counting calories(1200/day). It works great for me, because it still allows me to have the foods I love(like chocolate), even the bad ones once in a while, I never really hungry, b/c I can snack.

This is the only way of loosing weight that consistantly worked for me in the past and now. I am a faily slow looser, but so far i consistantly hit 1 lb/week, although I averaged of shaving off about extra 100 cals on foods, and adding about 100 cals worth of exercise.

Another positive result from that diet is that overtime I naturally started to choose foods that are low in sugar and vegetables, salads, and lean protein, because that way I maximize the time I'm not hungry, and those types of foods are filling and low on calories. Of course there are days when only big juicy burger will do, and then I just go lightly on other foods.

So those are my experiences with that type of diet.

Good luck on your journey!

I am doing a low fat food diet!! It is really easy no counting and etc.. and so far in 10 months I have lost 84 pds!

thanks all for your help, i think im just going to try and eatbetter for a few weeks. At the moment my diet is all fried food and extremely high in fat so im eating more veggies and less of the rubbish.

Im going to increase my activity too but i find it hard as ive got a 7yr old a two yr old and a baby almost 6 mths old. Im trying to walk a little more but i feel i hardly ever sit down anyhow as im aways washing, tidying, playing etc etc

fingers crossed... im starting it al tomorrow!!! wohooo... here we go!!!!

Just try to eat good foods and drink good fluids and try to do some type of exercise. Maybe not exercise but walk a little more. If you do that, I guarantee you will see results. It may be slow results, but those are the best. Losing 10lbs a week is great..........but not the best. Losing 1-2lbs a week should get you the most excited.

Driven with 3 Degrees of Freedom

You can mess with what work best for you. Look at 3 things.

1. Exercise Amount - What do you do in a day? If you are always on the run you are probably getting alot of exercise. But its always good to get something that gets your heart rate up for a little while about 20-30 minutes. Like go run around in the park with your kids, race them, teach them soccer improve your exercise habits and you get the bonus of teaching them some good ones to. A little exercise that you can do that will take you about a minute but will have you breakinga sweat is squats. just stand in place and sit down until your thighs are parallel with the floor then go back up. Breathing is really important in this exercise inhale going down and exhale going back up... oh yeah .. talk to your doctor before doing this exercise or adjusting your diet this exercise can be a little rough but it only takes a minute.

2. Nutrition - Balance your meals... finding out what is right for you i found it easiest to start with about 50% carbs, 30% protein, 20% fats... as far a calories go... You really need to know where your body is at like how much lean body mass you have.. because you dont want to calculate your calories based on the fat that is on your body.. your muscles are what use up those calories the most.

3. Water Intake - You want to drink anywhere from 1 ounce to 1.5 ounces per calorie that you eat. But basic rule of thumb drink about 8-12 glasses a day. Water is the real key to your dieting success it boosts your metabolism helps flush out toxins and fat and just makes you feel better when you arent dehydrated.

I don't count calories, never have..just because I don't work that way! LOL

I've always exercised my butt off so I don't like to really restrict what I eat BUT it's all about learning about nutrition in my opinion. When you start reading it in black and white and it starts to make sense, it becomes a lot easier to convince yourself why you don't to be putting X and Y in your body.

I think trying to decide what your total calorie in take be can be tough, no doubt a lot have done it successfully. Too often I've trained with people that have been on weight loss programs but can't make it through the workouts...it's so important to make sure you're consuming ENOUGH calories (for course from GOOD food).

The exercise in my opinion is a given, when it becomes part of who YOU ARE your body will NEED IT just like it needs food and water.

The ratio that driven gave is great (carbs, fats and proteins). Don't be afraid of carbs and don't be too overly friendly with proteins. I've always passed on the fact that your MAIN SOURCE OF FUEL ARE CARBS. Protein is important but it's sooo easy to take in as much as your body needs with just a good bfast, we take in A LOT more protein than we need.

Anyway, I'm rambling.
GOOD LUCK!!

I have had terrific results with a total body cleanse. I lost 8lbs in 9 days and my husband lost 20 lbs! We are continually losing weight and inches with the program and have never felt better! It's a wonderful health technology where so many people are losing weight safely. It's truly been very impressive. Combined with healthy eating and a good excercise program you just can't beat it!

Sorry, I know this is probably a silly question, but what exactly does a total body cleanse consist of?

I'm thinking with all the junk in my system at the moment, I probably need something like that to get back on track!

Hi,
We had terrific results with Isagenix. It's a total body cleanse that cleanses the body from the inside. As a result people shed punds and inches safely and easily without any stimulants like caffeine or ephedra, etc. It's a program consisting of meal replacement shakes and cleanse drinks and I'll tell you so many people have felt better than they have in years! It actually rids your body of toxins. You can learn more here

Also check out this site You'll be amazed at some of the stories of people who have had remarkable results.

My husband has now lost 30lbs and still going strong. What really excites me is that he has the motivation to keep going, he finally found something that has worked! I've lost all my weight from having kids but work the program into my lifestyle now to maintain.

not trying to spam. just trying to help.
heres an explaination of how weight loss should be
http://www.insiderfitness.com/our_philosophies.php

Many people have the wrong idea about weight loss. They think they can go on a diet and lose weight and keep it off by reverting to previous behavior. It doesnt work that way. If its a "diet" its probably bad. If you can only do it for a short period of time, its probably not healthy. Weight loss should be as much about health as it is about actually losing. A lifestyle change is the way to live healthy and thin, not a "diet". The key is to pick a healthy lifestyle change that you can continue. Its hard to have a great body, thats why most people dont. It takes hard work, dedication, and maintenance. Lose weight and keep doing what got you there. Good luck:)

I totally agree. Fad diets are just not healthy and the results do not last. That's why taking care of your body from the inside out is so important. Lifestyle changes are where it's at! I'm still trying to fit in some exercise as it's so important to long term health but have been maintaining my prepregnancy weight and my husband is continuing to drop the pounds and feels fantastic.
