Are there any proven ways to build muscles?

Building muscle takes so long! I train a lot and hard but it takes forever, it seems I just can’t do it. Please tell me, are there any proven ways to build muscles? Please reply I am waiting for your replies.
 
1.)Pick a routine from the sticky in the weight training section.
2.)Read nutrition 101.
3.)Give 100% effort.
4.)Be consistent.
5.)Be patient.
 
Steriods seems to work but from MTV's show, once you get off; it's gone again except for all the great side-effect: baldness, roid-rage, smaller libido.....

Beside that, it's nutrition, DIET, excercise, and REST. Make sure to eat in surplus and if you can gain 1 lbs a week, that is amazing. The ideal goal of all bodybuilder is to gain 1 lbs a week.
 
Pick up a subscription to Muscle & Fitness magazine, or equivalent. There are literally thousands of proven techniques, but not all work for all body types and metabolisms, so you need to do your homework. There is no quick easy answer for you.
 
Get carbs in just before working out, drink a carb/protein (75%/25%) shake during your routine, and then drink a high protien drink shortly after your workout. This will help reduce any catabolic effect and increase the anabolic (muscle building) effect of your workouts. I too am a hard gainer and I have been able to gain 10 lbs in the last month following this around my workouts. Then, during the rest of the day, make sure you are eating clean with equal amounts of carbs and proteins every 3-4 hours. You will feel like you are eating all the time but if you really want to gain then this is what you have to do. The more you eat, the higher intesity you are going to have to workout at too in order to add only lean mass.
