Sport Are nutrition stores good ?

Sport Fitness
Hello,

From what I know, a diet differs from one person to another depending on their BMI, body, etc, right ? Shouldn't I get consultation from an expert ?
so I wanted to ask if nutrition shops like Nutrishop or Complete Nutrition are good places and reliable to get a nutrition consultation, get a diet program, etc ?
If they're not then is there an alternative ? Should I go for a dietitian ?

I go to the gym but I also want to get a good diet program, take supplements as well to go with the gym. Any advice I'd very much appreciate.

I apologize if this was asked before and this piece of information is mentioned somewhere on the forum.

Oh god, don't go to a nutrition shop for a diet plan. Once in a while, higher end stores may have a naturopath or the like on staff as a consultant, but that's rare. The rest of the workers may have some nutritional experience, but are nowhere near qualified to act as dieticians. (Also, don't be brought in by someone who calls themselves a "nutritionist". That's not a real, defined career.) Lastly, you need to keep in mind the conflict of interest that arises when you realize that a store worker's main priority is usually to sell you products and get your money.

So yes, I'd recommend seeing a certified dietician if you want a full diet plan.

I would have to agree with Jrahein... Going to a registered dietician for a meal plan is recommended. Nutrition store employees are often not trained or certified to be giving anyone a meal plan and are usually under pressure to sell certain products. And be careful about "nutritionists" as well. Although many are "certified" there is no regulation as to what these certifications require. So you might luck out and find someone who's very knowledgeable, or you might end up with someone who passed a test without even having to read a book on nurtition.
