Are all vitamins the same?

For my multivitamin is just a basic multi such as centrum adequate? Or is there a purpose in buying the expensive stuff at GNC? Also other than my multi and my vitamin C what should I be taking? Thanks
Amy

Welcome to the board!!!
Good question! I am actually curious about the same thing so I'll be checking in on this post quite a bit.

The only thing I take in addition to a multivitamin, is a fish oil. I read up on it's benefits and the list is a mile long. Not to mention I met an "older lady" that said she took one daily and she looked absolutely beautiful, her hair, her face was youthful, etc! So, I know if that's what she did, I'm going to as well.

Good luck!

I'm sure Steve or Tony will chime in with what the best multivitamin is, apparently some are more easily broken down by the stomach and later more easily absorbed.

I take a multivitamin and fish oil. Many doctors will tell you not to take single supplements on top of a multivitamin if you're eating a balanced diet. If you're really interested in this, then a standard blood test during a physical should tell you what you might be deficient in.

As far as vitamin C, watch the intake. It won't kill you but taking too much will lead to nasty side effects like diarrhea as you body tries to expel the excess.
