Weight-Loss Apples- 130 calories, 25 g of Sugar??

Weight-Loss
Take away the numbers. Apples are delicious and made by nature. They've supported the nutrition of billions of people for generations.

As to what kind to get: I hear Honeycrisp are amazing. I like a good Fuji. Try a bunch and pick the ones you like to keep around for snacks and sides.

You STILL have to take the calorie amount into consideration. You can get fat on a bag of apples too...it is however a much better choice than eating candy or such.

A cup of chopped apple is around 65 calories so it's not exactly a bit hit to your diet, ya know.

That sounds like a pretty large apple - but otherwise normal. I myself am fond of Fuji and Pink Lady's but I don't think you're going to find that the nutrition is going to change that much between different types of the same size.

So pick ones you like and go for smaller apples if you're worried about the calories and sugars!

I'd be suprized if an apple really does have 25g of sugar- I was told by a dietition they have around 4g of carbs from sugar and I am in little doubt she knows her stuff.

Just a question- did these details come from "slimming world"? they seem to have apple hate- I met one of their members once, she shot out all sorts about a portion of fruit salad having 350kcals and 100g of sugar, an apple having 130-150kcals, all sorts of rubbish whilst boasting about how their steak burger was the best thing on the Earth and they could eat whatever because it was a red day... just a joke, they seem to have fresh fruit hate and to me to be on a path to heart issues...but thats for another day...!

I weigh my apples from time to time. I get about 50-85kcals depending on its size and I would estimate 4-6g of sugar not 25g!!!

You know the rest of the internet is just a click away... According to (link removed) a medium apple (3" diameter) has 95 cals and 19 grams of sugar. A large apple (3 1/4" diameter) comes close the facts you listed, at 116 cals and 23 grams of sugar.

The dietician Summer mentioned may have been referring to net carbs, which are calculated differently.

The main thing to remember is that Apples are fruits found in nature. They're not processed, and they bring a host of benefits to their eaters. While I agree with Jericho that it would be scientifically possible to get fat on a bag of apples, in the real world I don't think it would never happen. Hopefully no dietician or doctor will ever tell you to "lay off the apples, you're starting to bulge." :p

I love gala apples and I think their about 50 calories (Although myplate counts them as 80 calories) perhaps double check, but their pretty low in the calorie department (although they are pretty small in the size department)

Why don't you try oranges instead? have two clemintines for 80 calories and they are lovely :) and also orange is a nice colour to look at, so you can enjoy that while you're eating, haha :D
