I would honestly suggest taking a class in an art school and seeing how you like it...

are you l ooking at air brushing or photo retouching/color correction type stuff with photoshop...

Photoshop allows you to do a lot of really really cool things but it's also not a cheap application and it's not that easy to learn to use effectively...
