Anyone else with creatine side effects?

Anxious to lose those stubborn few lbs,i started using creatine last september with the advise of my trainer, its true that it makes you sweat like crazy with a higher heart rate. However, something weird has happened to me for the first time in my life,i started losing hair!!!!I immediately dropped the product and after 2 months my hair was ok!Every good thing comes with a price and i guess it caused this awful side effect in my immune system.

Anyone else, esp. women, suffered this side effect?

Only hormone and testosterone affecting products can cause hair loss with testosterone converting to the hormone DHT, which basically cuts of blood supply to the hair.

It's probably paranoia more than anything. Creatine, is natural in the body and its primary job is to transport water to muscle.

I've never felt any of those effects:more sweating, higher heart rate. I would never consider creatine as a weight loss product at all.

Only effect I've ever had was the first time I tried a loading phase and misread the directions. A bad night of cheap beer and Mexican food would pale in comparison to what that did to me...:speechless:

Agreed so far with all the reply. Check your diet; when you are on creatine did you eat extremely low calorie diet while over-working out? Creatine may give you that extra ump to push the workout harder and that would explain the extra sweating while working out. If you are already under-cutting calorie and now you workout even harder while on the same diet or less, your body may be starving. That is my guess.

I thought it was also good for helping you lose fat by giving you that extra ability to work harder.

kinda-sorta.

i wouldn't consider it a 'cutting' supplement, but by the same token I don't think you need to stop creating while on a cut.

you don't use that much creatine while performing cardio...but being able to get a good strength workout in does keep the muscles active and burning calories, even though weight training is generally an anaerobic workout so fat can't be used for energy during the workout.

but it still benefits you in the long run.
