I know it's been around for a while and maybe it's a little silly but I love my wii fit. I still use the gym (and walking/jogging/running every day), but the wii fit is an awesome tool for keeping track of things. It records your weight, and supposedly is more accurate than any bathroom scale. It also has ways to record pedometer steps, waistline measurements, etc. It just keeps everything in track really neatly. Plus it has a ton of great exercises that are awesome. For example, I like to watch TV after dinner, so I'll use the Wii fit and it's "free run" mode to run in place while watching a 30 minute show (so 30 minutes of jogging in place every day). Now, there's no reason I couldn't do that WITHOUT the wii fit, but the cool thing about it is it keeps track of just how fast I run (it expresses it in distance). If I gradually increase that 30 minute distance, then I'm getting more fit; right?
Just wondered if anyone else used it like I do, and if you had any tips. I love it! It does give you 'calories burned' but I think it severely overestimates it. For example today I did 40 minutes of running in place (20 minutes during lunch; and 20 minutes after dinner followed by some strength training), and it said I burned like 480 calories. I think it's basing it off of the same MET's as if I were on the treadmill for 40 minutes, but even THAT seams high. I just ignore it anyway. I know what my caloric intake needs to be based on my BMI, etc. It's working, so I'm happy. But it does give me something to 'gauge' with anyway.
Thoughts?
