Anyone else using the Wii Fit?

I know it's been around for a while and maybe it's a little silly but I love my wii fit. I still use the gym (and walking/jogging/running every day), but the wii fit is an awesome tool for keeping track of things. It records your weight, and supposedly is more accurate than any bathroom scale. It also has ways to record pedometer steps, waistline measurements, etc. It just keeps everything in track really neatly. Plus it has a ton of great exercises that are awesome. For example, I like to watch TV after dinner, so I'll use the Wii fit and it's "free run" mode to run in place while watching a 30 minute show (so 30 minutes of jogging in place every day). Now, there's no reason I couldn't do that WITHOUT the wii fit, but the cool thing about it is it keeps track of just how fast I run (it expresses it in distance). If I gradually increase that 30 minute distance, then I'm getting more fit; right?

Just wondered if anyone else used it like I do, and if you had any tips. I love it! It does give you 'calories burned' but I think it severely overestimates it. For example today I did 40 minutes of running in place (20 minutes during lunch; and 20 minutes after dinner followed by some strength training), and it said I burned like 480 calories. I think it's basing it off of the same MET's as if I were on the treadmill for 40 minutes, but even THAT seams high. I just ignore it anyway. I know what my caloric intake needs to be based on my BMI, etc. It's working, so I'm happy. But it does give me something to 'gauge' with anyway.

Thoughts?

I did...for a while...a while ago...hehe
I have an Xbox Kinect and I like that it uses your whole body, feel I will know better if I'm doing something properly or not.

With that said, the Wii Fit does have some cool exercises. And I like the Body Age thing and that it keeps track of your daily weight. You can add everything else you do too and it estimates the calories burned which is awesome. I used the Free Run thing once, and it is pretty good. Perhaps I need to do that more often...
It has that 30 day challenge thing or something too doesn't it? Maybe I'm crazy...it's been forever since I used it, but think I will do it tonight. I know you can set your goals and see if you can reach them, and see your weight and BMI and progress every time.

I haven't seen a 30 day challenge but who knows. The main exercises I do are the free run (40 minutes a day; 20 minutes on 'gym days' when I go to the gym and run on the treadmill), and some of the strength training and balance exercises. My wife loves the Yoga. I'm not big into Yoga but it is a super cool way to do it because it's able to sense your balance and make sure your pose is exactly correct.

I know some are against weighing daily. In fact, when I first started losing weight, I didn't weigh myself at all. I figured, if I'm doing it right, I'll see myself getting smaller. But I decided to start weighing and I actually like weighing daily. I get to see a graph and I can see trends on how my body fluctuates. The important thing is, it trends downwards. Though it is amazing how certain things can affect you. I ate a very high sodium lunch on a hot day and didn't drink much water (busy all day, lunch was catered. Ate small portions estimating my calories as best I could but it was all foods high in sodium). The next day I was 3 pounds heavier, weight that was gone the very NEXT day after I had gotten myself rehydrated. Water weight is a crazy thing! And I know it was water weight because even if I serious under-guessed my calories, I'd only be a few hundred calories up (aka, closer to a 'maintain' than 'lose' but nowhere near 'gain'). To gain three pounds I'd have had to have eaten something like 13,000 calories that day! LOL.

But anyway, I like it. Keeps track of my balance, keeps track of my weight. The exercises are a great supplement to the gym. Nothing is stopping me from running in place, but I have more motivation when I'm on a timer AND will get to see my progress. That's really the best part. The exercises are all easy, at home type stuff; but they are actually measured. I can see that I am running farther, and faster, the more I run in place. And that's been translating into shorter mile times at the gym, faster than when I was only running at the gym!

The best part is, I just got my Wii Balance Board a couple weeks ago, and so many people have them collecting dust that I picked it up used on Amazon for like $30. Sweet!

I like to use the Wii Fit whenever it rains. It's a good cozy way to get the heart working. The only issue for me are the things shaking in my living room whenever I play. I feel a little uneasy when glass shakes a little so I have to work at an intensity where I don't shake the entire living room making things potentially fall to the floor.

Ha, hadn't thought of that. Don't have that issue here. Not a lot of breakable stuff up high (too many nieces and nephews running around all the time!). Plus, I grew up in this really squeaky house and I developed a habit of 'rolling' my feet when I walk or run. Despite being 200 lbs heavier I make far less noise than my wife when jogging in place! LOL.
