Anybody ever had an ulcer?

My boyfriend's doctor suspects he has an ulcer. He's been out of work for a few weeks and feels bad (on and off). He's lost his appetite, feels weak, sleeps alot, gets weird pain in his gut and behind his shoulder blades when he eats. Anyone has any experience with ulcers?
 
Does he take medicine often? If so what kind?
 
Yeah sounds like a bleeding ulcer.

Things like NSAIDS can cause ulcers. Did the doctor give him anything?
Proton inhibitors, anti bacterialts etc

yeah i had an operation for an ulcer when i was 20 (1990) i forget what the procedure was called but i had 2 thirds of my stomach removed medicine as come on leaps and bounds since and what i had can now be treated with a courseof tablets. I was serving in the R.A.F at the time so was treated quickly. the pain of a bleeding ulcer is truly horrific i wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy.
