I've just finished my 2nd day on Cohens. So far I seem to be spending ages chopping and weighing everything. I work full time and am finding it tiring to get home from work and do all the prep. Does anyone have any tips on reducing prep time? I can spend a bit of time on weekends doing prep but don't know whether vegies etc will last if I chop them up all at once. I guess it will probably get easier as I get used to the weights etc.

Would love any tips people have got.

Thanks.

Well I dont know if this will help what I do is chop all my salad vegies and keep them all in an air tight container, then all I have to do is weigh them out. They tend to keep for approx. 1 week.
As for steak and chicken breast, I buy bulk weigh out individual portions and wrap and freeze them individually!Defrost as I need.
Hope I help a little!

Save Time

If you spend a little more money, you can save a lot of time.

I buy 6oz Fat Free Plain yogurts to have "just in case". I also buy the big tub. But if I am in a hurry. There is nothing like the freedom of grabbing it and go.

I also have cottage cheese, tuna and cauliflower at home and work.

Cauliflower keeps for about a week. I have the same veggie measurement with alot of my foods, so I measure out either 105g or 120 grams and mark the bags and I am good to go.

I also cook my turkey stir fry on the weekends (one serving at at time) and then freeze it. It has tomoato and bell peppers and ground turkey. It re-heats quickly and tastes just as good as the original.

I also buy precut and washed Romaine Lettece when I do wraps, so I just cook the food and grab those.

I don't eat salads as I don't have time and I don't like the taste when it's not fresh.

Hi avarona...

wow sounds like Az has it made..:), wraps? i just have a crispbread option, and no pre minced anything... mores the pitty... Unfortunatley over here in oz its closer to what wannabe describes.. My mother does a couple of days worth of meat at a time, vegies on a daily basis mainly as it summer we have quite a few salads.. I have slacked off at the moment i used to weigh everything in advanced and freeze but im doing daily amounts, working my way through a small packet of chicken and steak... slack slack slack.... but i never go out ( sorry correction I try not to go out) unprepared.. You never know where you may get stuck.. some people say its a little ott, but really preparation makes the plan a success and leaves you a whole lot less stressed.. 30 days makes a habbit, you will be in the swing of it in no time..

Be good, be kind, be strong...

Look forward to an update...

thanks

Thanks for your tips and tricks guys. I went out this weekend and bought enough beef and chicken breast to last for 3 weeks of meals and have chopped and weighed it all up into portion sizes and frozen it. Such a great idea that should save me time at night. I've also bought a few little plastic containers and have chopped up a few nights worth of veg so I can just do a quick stif fry with my pre weighed meat and veg. Excellent that you guys were able to share with me. Thanks again. Hope you have a fantastic week.

Cohen for busy working individuals

Anyone has any great idea / advice to offer to busy working individuals like myself?

I wake up at 5.30 to do my breakfast and lunch. I do get the portions ready beforehand (usually the night before) but 5.30am is still rather killing because I still have to go shower and get ready for work. In any case, I do manage to leave the house around 6.40am to get to my workplace by 7.15am...still sounds rather a big rush huh?
