any suggestions casein supps??

can anyone suggest a good, natural whey suppliment. Also, i really want to know a good supplier of casein for before bed shakes. thanks.

thanks a lot man i needed a good source of casein

for whey just get the cheapest one that has a high protien content.
The expensive ones are only expensive because of the names. I steer clear of musclemax and LA muscle etc...

just make sure you dont get weight gainer, cos thats just full of carbs with little protein.

typical amounts should be
serving size approx 32g
protein approx 25g
fat approx 2g
carbs - approx 5g

I would go with cottage cheese before bed, not a supplement. On another note, I can't believe how many questions you've asked in like a day, it's insane, not a bad thing...just saying.

well pure whey protein is pure whey protein.

sure the expensive stuff may have other suppliments in it like extra amino's and vitamin B, but if you stick to a good diet then you dont need all the extras

ok kool and i like the sound of cottage cheese before bed.

heres wut i usually eat with my cottage cheese:

mix all these together in a fairly large cup
1.5-2 cups cottage cheese
4 oz any yogurt
2 tbs wheat germ

this tastes a lot better than just eating cottage cheese to me at least if anyone is crazy enough to try that, please tell me what you think and then ttry this:

spread this on a large piece of whole grain bread:
1 heaping tbs all natural peanut butter
then on top of that:1-2 tbs cottage cheese

this tastes really good to me kuz the cottage cheese helpps keep the peanut butter not be too sticky.

ps: i get my cottage cheese from walmart; it has 14g protein per 1/2 cup. anyone see any cottage cheese that beats walmart's protein content???

Ive never liked cottage cheese, but I'll deff try that. Its a lot of effort, but sounds nice.

I know I shouldn't cos its expensive but I do buy metrex protein bars as they are quick and easy.

Evo!!!
Mreik!!!!

Need your help here.

Is there any point in taking protein and caesin??? isnt caesin just a milk extract?

Whey is derived from casein. Casein is best used at night because it is releases slower and thus feeds your body throughout the night. Whey is best used post-workout because it will be absorbed quicker.

Usually keep the PWO to 40g of whey (shake), and then a meal with milk.. I think it's fine either whey :p This has actually been debated for a while, any new articles on the topic Abear?

The only time I think one or the other should be used, is right when you wake up (whey), and when you go to bed (casein).

Whey protein is extracted from milk, casein is left.

I've seen a couple of new writeups by various people. Cosgrove and others have stressed that those post-training timing studies were done on an empty stomach which is how those original whey/casein studies were done. I haven't seen anything state that whey is best. I guess people are getting that from magazines. Fat-free chocolate milk seems to be number one right now.

Heck, it even beat gatorade in an endurance training study :)

That's good to know, I don't feel as bad drinking it all the time.. for it's, uh, nutritional purposes... lol

thats very interesting that the studies show whole milk are more beneficial than skim as a post workout food.

by the way; how much time is allowed for a post workout meal? should you wait at all before you eat your post workout meal?

Optimum Nutrition makes casein in 2lb tubs.
Also: has casein
