Any real proof that NO works?

Is there any real proof that Nitric Oxide works? A lot of the guys at my gym are telling me they are experiencing focus and more strength from N.O. Explode and Jack3d but still am a little skeptical.

I have tried Jack3d and really it did nothing for me that $4.95 caffine tablet wouldn't do.

So my question is does supplementing Nitric Oxide really work or not?

Thanks

Absolutely not. Oral ingestion of NO pre-cursors (i.e. arginine) has never been proven to elevate muscle levels of nitric oxide one bit.

That's why pretty much every NO product out there comes with caffine, maybe taurine too, a form of creatine, and then some misc BS like glutamine. since you can feel the stimulant hitting you, "it must be working".

I've used NO-xplode as a test, and while I did feel a little better pump in the muscles after each set, I wasn't able to lift any more than normal, nor did my poundages dramatically increase for the month or so I used it.

definitely skip the NO stuff.

I gave it a try too, but the amount of caffine in there caused way too much increased heart rate, and no strength related side effects.

I disagree. Whether it is a mental aspect or not, since i've began useing pre-workout drinks(I use Buzzerk-which does not contain caffeine) I could never go back to lifting without it. My workouts are longer, more intense and the pump your feel in your muscles is twice as intense. Like i said, it might be completely mental but it works for me.

caffine = longer workouts, more intensity.

the pump...it does nothing.

but hey if you like paying $50 a month (or more) vs a cup of coffee...by all means.

of course I have read studies that found prolonged injestion of l-arginine and related compounds can increase risk of intestinal bleeding.

Nope, no proof at all. I'd tell you there is actually proof that it DOESN'T work, but then you'd ask me to go find it, and it's not really worth the time to find as outside of the supplement companies pushing it, everyone else has already given up opn NO products. ie, it's a dead issue.

It hasn't been shown to improve performance in healthy people. There are some positive results in people with heart failure, though.
