Hola :)

I have a small conundrum, I'm trying to change the way that I eat, I eat alot of carbs basicly, and cutting down on them always makes me tired and grumpy for a while. However I can't really afford this side effect as I work in a bar and its pretty energetic work when it gets busy and I'll be doing it at five or six hours in a go.
Cutting down on my carbs and replacing them with lovely vegatables is hard enough, but I want to do it, I'm just worried about my energy for my job.
For instance tonight I'm working a wedding reception which will be packed (And think of the lovely wedding buffet, with a cake! how tempting).

Any advice you guys might have on what food/dishes are the best for energy bursts and such would be very much appreciated and a massive help :)

Keep the processed carbs out and the veggie carbs in. And make sure you're working out. Eventually your body will make the shift and you'll feel amazing after anything you eat. Unfortunately, right now your body is craving processed crap because you're depriving it. Hang in there!

Until then, try a sugar-free Red Bull when you really need a jump :p

Stick to fresh foods, steamed if you need to cook them, as unrefined as you can get them, this will help. Also keep your fluid intake up, drink enough plain water.

If you feel your energy levels drop a few days in, check your getting enough nutrients- protein, complex carbs, fats, vitamins and nutrients from your food as lacking in certain nutrients can alter your energy levels.

Also stay with it for more then a week, your energy levels will improve.

And if your desperate, caffiene!! (Just don't plan on sleeping!!) Lol- no seriously, caffiene only as a last resort, it does have side effects and its easy to become dependant.

Thanks guys, last night wasn't too bad and I stuck to plain water :) I had a diet coke at the end of the night though, which was much better then the beer I usually have haha x x
