Hi, recently over the past few months i have lost 4 stone but now it seems really hard to get of, i still have loads of chest fat and my stomach doesn't look much better.

How many times a day should i excercise ?

I goto the gym and i use weights for about 10-20 minutes a day, everyday i do cardio an weights.

I use the treadmill for about 45 minutes, i then use some of the weights in the gym then i go swimming.

I get home, have my tea and then about 2 hours later i do jumping jacks (star jumps) and ski steps for about 10-15 minutes....

I eat less than 1000 calories a day..

Thanks guys..

What else could i do to make the weight drop of faster ??

you'll lose weight if you're really eating that little... it's all physiology. If you are taking in that few calories (i.e. less than 1000) your expenditure will be above that even without exercise and the weight will come off. Be patient and stick to your plan.

I eat less than 1000 calories a day..

You're eating under 1000 calories? How long can you keep that up? Remember you can't starve your body of nutrients it needs or else you won't even be able to keep up this exercise routine you have going.

SOME people feel, it's better to push harder during their workout than to do more/longer workouts. Maybe that would help you also.

Under 1000 Calories...900? 800? That's really low.

I used a calculator for your age, weight and height to see how much calories you should be taking in to lose weight if you are working out at 3 days a week. (Remember this can vary because everyone is different)
Maintenance:
2396 Calories/day
Fat Loss:
1917 Calories/day
Extreme Fat Loss:
1438 Calories/day

...and is there a reason you want it off so fast? Don't rush weight loss...

Ive been fat all my life an last year i was obese, the reason i want it of fast is because im going on holiday in may next year and over christmas i might put on a few pounds.

So i have just over 4 months an a half after christmas to lose it. But i bought a new shirt for £40.00 and it doesn't quite fit yet so im gonna try an lose as much weight as i possibly can in the next 3 weeks.

Also most people say to lose weight i have to eat so many calories but wont i have to burn all that of aswell ?
Your supposed to burn more than you eat, if your only burning 120 calories every 30 mins on treadmill it's gonna take ages to burn all the calories off..

Also should i be doing more weights ??
I only lift for 10 minutes a day everyday in the gym i lift 25kg and do 3 sets of 10 on different machines.

But remember that it takes energy to move around and you burn calories to even stay alive.

There is something called BMR. This basically helps you figure out how many calories you burn at rest. Meaning...it's how many calories you burn without even trying and just going about your day.

There are many different calculators for this but for YOU, based on your age, weight, and height and activity level of moderate your BMR is 1742 (everyone is different and every calculator will be different by a few numbers).

Without even trying or thinking about it, you burn 1742. It takes energy to burn that much. Let's say, to lose weight you decide to eat about 1600 calories a day. That means you've already burned 142 more than you ate that day. You'll already lose weight because of that without even exercising.

Add exercise to that and say you burn 300 Calories while working out. Well, that's now a deficit of 442 Calories that day!

Does that sound good now?

Hi Dpilkington

The chaps are right to alert you to the low number of calories. Calories are energy and the way to lose weight is to burn/use more energy than you are putting in. If you are exercising regularly then you should be able to cope with more calories.
Your original post asked what else you could do to "make the weight drop of faster". This may seem odd, but just humour me and try it for a month.
Use that cinema screen in your head to create a picture in your mind of yourself stepping onto the scales and being delighted to see them read exactly what you want as your next weight goal. Make that picture as vivid and bright and realistic as you possibly can.
Notice the date...set the date.
Then in your mind, step into the picture and live it, experience it, use your 5 senses, what can you see, what do you hear, what do you say to yourself, what is everyone else saying to you as they congratulate you, how do you celebrate your success, what can you smell, taste....how good do you feel.
Do this every day, first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Let your subconscious work on it whilst you sleep.
Just try it every day for a month (What harm can it do?) and notice what happens.
Every successful athlete utilises this type of visualisation. Try it for yourself and then come back and tell me just how successful you were.
Your unconscious mind is very powerful. Use it.

I wish you every success.

You might be losing weight with cuting your cals down by a big amount, but it's really gona bite you in the butt when you go back to a regular diet!

Keep up with your excersizes, and go to a BMI calculator to see how much your body needs as it's RDA and then take around 500 calories off. NEVER Lose any more than 3 lbs per week unless you do it through good excersize and regular visits to a GP / Diet specalist...

Ok thanks alot everyone !
