Sport Anxiety Over Office Lunch today!

Sport Fitness
ok.. a rep is bringing lunch for our office today (unhealthy stuff without going into detail)
I am doing soo awesome on my clean diet right now, my wt. training, running are awesome right now and I dont want to be RUDE but I am soo not wanting to deal with everyone's comments about why I won't eat what the rep is bringing. AND they WILL comment!
And i dont want to feel like i am being forced into eating that crap. But I dont want people saying stuff about me like ' oh she's a nutrition/exercise freak' or 'Emily, What are you eating??''.
I hate when people pay attention to what i eat , probly because I used to struggle with an eating disorder and I HATE when people do that..or stare at me with what i am eating .
Any suggestions.? High anxiety here!
oh yeah i did bring my own lunch today, in case you were wondering, you know, the lean chicken breast, with brown rice etc.,, not like i'm not eating at all!

Awe, I'm so sorry!! I'm sure you can make something pretty healthy out of what they bring- and yes I'm sure ppl will comment, especially the women in the office!! I always noticed women love to take others down with them. Think of this, if ppl are passing remarks, its cause you're doing good for yourself and its a HUGE compliment to be called a health freak in my book, so wear that title proudly!!! :D

Let us know how it goes!!!

Gah, I know how you feel. Just remember two things:

1. Like shellsy pointed out, women like to bring other women down to their level :( It's unfortunate, but true.

2. Some people are just so ignorant on health and eating right that they really don't understand and are curious what you are doing. They might not think about how they are making you feel uncomfortable.

Yes, please update how it goes! I think all of us have been in this situation

agh! its just that i have my calories for the day down to the number.. and i wont know how many cals of however much i eat would have,, you know! And believe me, its not like I dont eat enough.. I get at least 2000 cals a day just to maintain...

While I totally understand your concern, I don't think it would be a huge deal if you eat a little of the food, just don't over do it! If you're really concerned about going a little over your calories, cut back a bit on the portion size of your next meal.

I've been told that there isn't a noticable difference between eating 100% clean, and 85%. So that allows for a little cheating in there... plus, if you eat 100% clean, you're more likely to over do it when you do decide to cheat... (at least i am!)

Who cares if they comment?

After all, it is YOUR body isn't it? I look at it as being rude to yourself, not to others around you who like to gorge themselves with food.

Just try to choose foods you know are clean. Most times when companys cater, there will be at least some sort of lean protein such as chicken, along with either a salad full of veggies or hot veggies by themselves.

they are serving from a bread company,, sandwiches made with white bread, meats and cheeses with sauces all over them loaded w/ calories, and choc chip cookies and regular chips! see why im not eating that!

Oh that sounds so good, I haven't eaten cookies and chips in months...lol :)

Maybe teh sandwiches will have lettuce and tomato on them?

If I were in that situation, I'd take off the bread and eat the meats and cheeses.

well its over, thanks guys and gals.
i ate my own lunch and lets just say , it just went.

Seriously, the sandwiches were premade and they had all kinds of fattening dressing over the meat and cheeses so I'm glad i didnt eat it. Sorry about the almost anxiety attack.. I just feel like i had to do what was best for me in the situation even if others thought i was rude.

It's only an office of like 5 people so its like everyone was RIght there looking at me.. but whatever.

I am extra careful what i eat in the last few weeks,, my husband has been out of town for a month and he is flying me to stay with him this weekend.. so i have to make sure i look EXTRA good, if you know what i mean :p
I want to feel s-e-x-y! heehee

My old job used to bring in pizzas sometimes and I worked with mostly women. They were all eating pizza and asking "Tony you're not gonna eat pizza?" I would just say nope, I dont want any. After the first two times or so, they stopped asking. I would leave for lunch however (not just on these days).

Our office has pizza day and cake day once a month every month. The first few times people asked me why I didnt eat any, I just told them "I dont eat that sh1t." Then it went from me being the one out of place, to them feeling unhealthy. And they all wonder why at office pool parties Im the only one with my shirt off all day...

Good on you for making a stand and not giving in! The only thing I could recommend next time is that if you don't want your worklmates hassling you then eat your lunch about 30 minutes before the office lunch. If you eat your healthy lunch at the same time as they are eating their "junk lunch", then they are probably feeling guility themselves for not eating healthy and you are an easy target. You'd probably still get asked why aren't you eating with them, but you could simply say that you've already had lunch. :)

Poke them in the stomach like the pillsbury dough dude...then give a (forced) fake smile and walk away.

Hanging out with friends, or at special occasions, I'll eat whatever, but I won't overdue it. I'll never hate pizza, cake, or cookies no matter how hard I try :)
