Antioxidants

I'm not looking to turn this into a "who's product is best topic" but it might still go that way, which I guess isn't all bad.

The general concensus I have heard is that the brand of antioxidant isn't that big of a matter, and that specific ones for men's health, women's health, etc. are irrelevant.

The question remains for me is the purpose of antioxidants. Now I know what the purpose is, but what I mean is I read the label RE: content and my One A Day vitamin has all of what the antioxidant has. The antioxidant has more vitamin A, C, and E (like 400 to 600% USRDA. multi-vitamin only about 150% USRDA), but the milti has way more of the minerals. In fact, the multi has 100% + of the minerals, and the anit doesn't even reach 100% USRDA of the minerals.

Thoughts? Or should I consider a different anti?

By the way, I take one of each daily. :)

Brand May Matter and OPCs Are The Best AntiOx

There is substantial evidence that what we buy over the counter might not be what we think. Assayed nutrition products show contents from 25% to 200% of labels and some ingredients NOT listed on label with some very unhealthy additions (lead being one). I'm looking to buy top quality well manufactured products.

You'll probably see my other post on supplements in which I note some super antioxidant points. I think research suggests OPCs are THE superior anitoxidant.

Anti-Oxidants

First off, I would like to commend you on your efforts to not only take health supplements, but to question what is good and bad.

I have done allot of research in my quest for the ultimate supplements when health issues became evident.

With literally hundreds of health supplements on the market it makes it hard to find the right one. Through my research I came across a book produced by Biochemist Lyle MacWilliam BSC, MSc, FP. In this guide he breaks down health supplements to see exactly what is in them and of what quality they contain. He puts them against 14 criteria as completeness, potency, bioavailability, anti-oxidant triad, bioflavanoid profile, potential toxicities and more. He then gives the products an overall rating out of 100%

He also recommends a Product Quality Checklist for consumers to guide them in searching for a quality supplement. A few points are if the product is a one-a-day it is no good because you will not get the proper dosage you require from one tablet and if so it will be so big you will choke on it. Is the safety profile of each ingredient thoroughly researched and evaluated? Does the company meet US pharmaceutical guidelines-NOT food grade guidelines for Good Manufacturing Practices(GMP)? Is the product independently tested and guaranteed for potency and safety? Is the product manufactured In-House or tendered out to the lowest bidder? Is the product free of ingredients that may have cumulative toxicities(pre-formed vitamin A and Iron) and more

Many store brand vitamins average about 15% and allot of health food store vitamins are as high as 60% I know of a product that is over 90% If anyone is interested in learning about high quality supplements I would be glad to assist with you with information. If you wish to speak personally, email me and I will call you.

Super OPC Antioxidants Are Important To Your Health!

I've done more research since the earlier post and am absolutely convinced that super antioxidants are important to anyone who exercises or endures stress. Both exercise and stress generate big free radical numbers. Free radicals are linked to many of today's epidemic like chronic diseases. Some studies suggest free radicals speed up the aging process.

Well thought of OPC super antioxidants are extracts of grape skin, grape seed, red wine (resveratol), maritime pine bark, and green tea. Pro Liberator has all 5 of those and more. Very few competing products have all 5. Pro Liberator has almost 600 mg of those 5 OPCs. Some of the competition has as little as 50 mg of OPCs. Plus we include a 285 mg package of proprietary blend of other antioxidants.

Although powerful supplements sometimes cost too much, Pro Star prices their products reasonably. Pro Liberator costs only $24 for 60 capsules which is a 30 day supply. That is $.80 a day for better health.

I was recently tested for my antioxidant level. Although I'm taking only 1 capsule a day (2 is the rec. dose), my level was 34,000. Average level is 17,000 for first time testers without supplements.
