I'm startin a new job and they've asked me what else I'd like to do to expand my services...so apart from the usual fitness testing...bodyfat./measurements etc...what else could i look at doing? any ideas guys

Manual muscle testing...

tisn't a proper gym so i don't have access to weights or machines...I need things and ideas that require little equipment!

Manual muscle testing does not require any equipment, except maybe some kind of bench or table...

If you want to read up on it on your own, I suggest this book:

Kendall, F., McCreary, E. & Provance, P. Muscles: Testing and Function. 4th edition, Williams and Wilkins, 1993.

Enjoy!

In a therapy and health centre, using powerplate machines. (vibration training) no other equip really! thats the prob. I mite throw in some other toning classes for the girlies with some lite dumbbells and one of the others is a nutritionist so maybe set up a package like powerplate & nutrition = weightloss group or something...someone said to teach tai chi...as i know the basics...but i mean BASICS! I need some other business ideas to get myself motivated and show the boss that once i start she wont be able to do without me! HELP

Just brian storming...
-Come up with homework the clients can do on they days they don't come in
-Write a weekly/monthly fitness tips news letter for clients
-Provide little extras so the clients love you (i.e. a bottle of water or a clean hand towel if they aren't already provided?)
-This might be a stretch...(I'm a CMT)...can you do anything for after a workout? Maybe take a 1 day class on Shiatsu...it's fairly easy to get a basic routine down. (Not sure what the laws in Ireland are for doing body work though)

good suggestions from Mogwai and pmoe33. But I would certainly not try to instruct T'ai Chi unless you have at least 5 years experience in it. Teaching people the wrong thing can be very bad, in with tai Chi, its all too easy to get it wrong, it is a very subtle art.

yeah regards the Tai Chi, thats how i felt! the stretching is a good idea and yeah i must find out about the post workout stuff...see the only thing is its a massage centre too so there's like 4 other therapists who can do it properly. I spose I could run the strectching thing as a flexibility class...?? Any other ideas lads?

Can you expand on what they're doing with the powerplate machine? Maybe there are somethings you know from the gym that could crossover onto the machine that they haven't thought of yet?

Has Body rolling caught on over there yet? It only a year or two old (as far as I know)...
