As you can tell from my name, I'm a bride to be! I got engaged a couple of months ago but we're going to wait about three years to get married.

I have pretty much always been overweight, but during my degree I put on two extra stone on top of the two stone of fat I already had! I'm finding it hard to shift it and know that if I don't start losing now, I'll only put another two.

I want to be beautiful on my wedding day, but more than that, I want to feel confident. I also want to lose weight to feel better, I have acid reflux and IBS problems and really think I need to be more healthy.

xx :p

There are a few of us that are losing weight for our weddings, myself one of them. Congrats on the engagement, and also, I know a long engagement can be a little difficult (my fiance and I have been engaged for a couple years already but will be waiting unti we both finish our degrees to get married - we're both in year 3 of 4).

I don't know if this works for acid reflux or not, but a good first step is to drink more water! I would imagine it would dilute the acid in your stomach so that at least its not as potent when it rises.

Another good suggestion is to start up a journal here to track your efforts and progress (and yes, sometimes setbacks!)!

Welcome to the forum, its great to have you hear and Congratulations on your recent engagement. I think its wonderful you are working on getting healthy not just for your wedding day but for yourself. Im sure you will find tons of the motivation you are looking for here as everyone here is wonderful. May I ask where your from in England? Mu husband is from York so I was just curious.

Hi there! Glad you found our forum! Congrat's on your recent engagement!! You stick with us, and you'll be the most beautiful bride anyone's ever seen!

Thanks everyone!

Hi everyone, thanks for the encouragement! :)

I'm going to start up a journal to keep track today and I will drink more water and see how that goes with the acid.

I'm originally from Newcastle in North-East England but have lived in Nottingham for quite a while now. My brother-in-law comes from York, it's a gorgeous place.

Thanks again!

Hi, I'm another engaged girl on the forum.Congrats, I know there's nothing like looking down and seeing that ring on your finger, especially if you've waited a long time.I'm also losing weight for my wedding, which is next August.Just wanted to let you know that we know we're you're coming from and we're all definitely here for you.

Congrats on the engagement! I think I know what you mean about gaining weight while getting a degree...I fell into that trap, too! For your IBS, does your doctor recommend any particular diet? It might be a good idea to talk to a nutritionist about your weight-loss goals and IBS and see if she can help come up with some recipes and food ideas.
