ankle pain

Hello, I started running about 13 weeks ago, I started in intervals of 2 min run/ 2 min walking, and at the end of the 12th week I was running 15 min/ walking 5 min/ running 30 min.
When I first started, my calves hurt a lot, but then I bought new running shoes (mine were kinda old),and the pain went away. But then on my 13th week my ankles started hurting. While I'm running they don't hurt at all, the 'inside' side of my calves hurt but just a little. It is actually a lot worse after the run. And now (evening), about 8 hours after I ran, my ankles hurt, I can barely put weight on them. Any thoughts on that?
I never ran before, but now I'm really enjoying myself and would hate to have to quit
 
Sounds a lot like shin splints but you might want to ask your daughter.
