Amino Acid supplement.

Ok. This is another have you tried it, does it really help your diet question.

Currently, I do eat my fair share of protein during the day..
-Morning Shake- 25
-Lunch-20
-Dinner-30+

Maybe another 20 throughout the day in various snacks, peanut butter, etc.

My question is that I'm looking into an amino acide supplement and I found one that sounds good...has anyone used it, is it good, etc.

no point. Mix up a scoop of whey into a glass of water and drink it
-cheaper
-more protein

what else needs to be said?

Proteins are amino acid chains. Ergo, alpha amino acids are the building blocks of protein ;)

Excess protein is stored as fat. You have to know your daily caloric intake so you don't eat too much protein. Otherwise, you'll get fat if you aren't able to burn off the excess calories ;)

That being said, every meal a person eats should have protein in it :)

yep, amino acids are what make up proteins. not all protein is the same (complete, vs incomplete protein, means... complete protein has ALL the essential amino acids...incomplete proteins don't. animal protein is complete...plant protein is not)

if you are not a 200lb bodybuilder...you don't need separate amino supps. every decent protein powder on the market has a decent amino profile, and since you should be eating most of your protein from whole foods...you shouldn't have a deficiency.

Unless you're a vegetarian or especially a vegan...then you might need to supplement some specific aminos that are primarily found in animal meats...especially red meat.

*damn, now I'm hungry for steak*

Does eating a person count as eating red meat?

Afaik, pork is considered white meat. And humans are considered long pork. :p

OP, I don't know about that particular product, but what limestix and malkore said. Squats and milk, or whatever. Get your basics down before messing around with advanced junk. Are you eating the right foods? Are you taking the right basic supplements? Are you doing the right training? That sort of thing.

Even if you are a vegan, with care you can balance your aminos (from food) with a great deal of precision. It's just.. ridiculous. I don't approve of veganism in general.

so basically amino acids are protein in a pill? So you can supplement them for protein if you are cutting then? (obviously not entirely, but for certain meals make that your only protein source for example)

Very basically. But I wouldn't use AA pills for a major protein source. At best, they should only be used as supplements to a healthy diet.

There are essential amino acids and non-essential amino acids.

And if you start taking one amino acid, that can screw around with the relative ratios of the other AAs and you may get an imbalance. You don't want that. So until you know exactly how much you need of each AA, don't decide to start taking L-carnitine, L-tyrosine, L-taurine, etc. ;)

Here is something very basic that might help you (you don't need to understand the second paragraph, although if you do, that's fantastic!):

Here is something more applicable:

But most pills contain what would equal 1 gram of protein. Soooo....you'd be chucking down a lot of pills to get what you can get through food or shakes.
