Am I working out too much?

A Okay I am 5 foot 6 1/2 inches tall and weigh now 178 lbs. I have been working out for the past two weeks and have lost about 6 lbs. I work out 6 days a week. I wake up and have a cup of coffee then do an hour in the morning on my eliptical. Then I eat breakfast and take my daughter for a 3 mile power walk in her stroller. I then eat lunch. I do my ab routine between 1 and 2 pm then I prepare dinner and eat about 5pm. Then I do another hour of cardio on my eliptical at 6 pm. Also, every other day I do weight training with jullian michaels total body shop workout bench. Sunday is my only day off from all workouts. I eat 1200 calories a day. Sometimes more depending on calories burned, but no more than 1500. What should I be doing differently? Am I working out too much? Is there any advice anyone can give me about how to tone my abs faster? I would appreciate any advice as I am training for my future career. I would like to add that I have also quit smoking 3 weeks ago to have a healthier lifestyle.

AHey and welcome to the forum!

If you've only been at this for a few weeks, give yourself more time! 6 lbs is really good! Can you give us a little more detail of what you do for strength training?

AThank you for getting back to me. I am currently using jullian Michael total body bench with her ifit workout. It is a bench that uses your own body weight to strengthen your muscles. It mostly works your arms and your legs, although there are a few ab exercises in there from time to time. I also do 3 ab workouts from her website. The ab crunch, bicycle crunch for my obliques and then the leg raises for my lower abs. I do 3 sets of 20 reps. I have noticed a little change in my face but as for my abs and muscle tone,I still don't have any definition. The scale is now saying I am gaining weight, which I know could be muscle, but I am a muscular person in general. I have broad shoulders and large theighs. I am just afraid of putting on too much muscle and not losing fat. I have also started drinking the lean shake 25 for meal replacement. I wanted something to give my muscles the protein and nutrients it needed while I was working them so much.

Very right! I even started at 1 lbs...very poor to hear, right? But not bad...everyone can start small...it's even healthy in that case.
