Am I Really Unfit?

No seriously. I am 17 years old and my parents have been giving me so much grief lately over on how I look. I used to be quite chubby a year ago and I used to get grief for being how I was then. And now I've achieved looking better than before and even friends at the gym compliment how good I look.

And yeah my parents just chat the opposite and its really starting to dig into me. My dad says crazy stuff like am going to die of cancer or some sh*t because I don't eat. And now my dad actually wants to take me to the doctor and wants to hear from him and find out whats wrong with? (I know, crazy) Am hoping the doc tells him am perfectly healthy. Am guessing this could be a crazy asian family thing. It's like their asking me to be fat again.

Truthfully, I am happy with how I look. Isn't that how it should be?

These were the pics I posted of myself in the gallery section, decide for yourself:

looking good bro i'm 17 also dont worry about what your parents say. I mean if your dad wants to take you to a doctor let him and he will see there is nothing wrong with you so it could actually help you out. Although you dont wanna listen to what your parents say about going to the doc and stuff you kinda got no choice cuz your still living under their roof lol. Just remember there are always people that have it worse. PEACE

If your happy thats all that matters. My parents still give me nutrition advice, and they are both have the worst diets I have ever seen. The only thing you can do is know more then them, I put my parents through a clinic till they shut up.

You look fit to me. Ha ha, I would just go to the doctor in order to prove him wrong. You must "respect" him. I guess that's another crazy asian thing.

Crazy asian family thing?

Oh boy. I think I am next when I start my progress.

I guess going to the doc with my dad should shut them up. My mum on the other hand is like "am gonna make you vegetable punjabi chicken curry with chappatis to fix you" oh lord help me.

ROFL!!!!!!

:) Hey that sounds tasty to eat! I'll eat it for you!

Argh, I just hope my family aren't going to turn into "WHAT YOU GOT AGAINST ASIAN FOOD" on me when I start.

Oh please do.:D Their actually kinda forcing me to eat fatty foods. Well am not giving up on my fitness. As much as I respect my parents I don't think they really know what healthy is. What is ROFL anyways?

ROFL - Rolling on the floor laughing. :)

I will somehow eat that which I have no idea how am I'm going to get that delicious food?

Sure, being happy matters. But anorexics are happiest when they don't eat, right?

I'm not going to say who's right or who's wrong...none of us could know based only on your point of view, with what little you gave us.

Sure you're probably SKINNER, but at what price? I bet with your new knowledge about nutrition, you try to eat as "clean as possible"...the problem with this is it often leads to undereating, especially for beginners. Just keep that in mind...

actually they arnt happy, its a disease.

Those pics dont looks skinny at all, maybe talk over your feelings with your parents and tell them were you stand..

Those pictures look fine. Problem is though, we haven't seen a before have we. Therefore, it could quite easily be the case that your not eating, and losing weight at a very fast level, therefore you should be eating more. Just a thought :D

They are happy when they're skinny, which is a result of not eating. Sure, they might not be happy when they don't eat or do eat, but that's just nitpicking.

Just because it's a "disease" doesn't mean people can't be "happy". Addiction is a disease, and addicts are happiest when they're on whatever it is they are hooked on. In your case I think you're trying to associate happy with healthy, when happy doesn't equal healthy. For all we know, like Woodt said, the OP could have been huge just 2 or three months ago.

Well am clearly not anorexic and I don't have an eating problem apart from eating healthly & moderately, (6 meals a day:confused: ). Anyway am gonna see if I can find any old pics of me when I was fat so stay tuned. I'l up one or two later today.

If he was really big, then became this skinny, he probobly wasnt under eating, since his body would have gone into starvation mode, and he wouldnt have lost much weight, just gotten really tiered, etc.

Judging from those pics, you dont look unhealthy.

Depends how long we're talking. If he had serious weight issues (I'm talking extremes) he would have lost weight eventually.

Thank you. I think I lost weight quickly well over a period of six months or less anyway. I stopped eating my regular junk food, like crisps, chocalate and KFC/fast food. And instead I began eating homemade stuff like tuna sandwiches, pasta salads and chicken wraps. Oh and I gave up eating my mums curry foods with nan breads etc :D

No wonder she's so bummed off. Your not eating her food!

There is room for lots of things in moderation. If it seems to bother her that you aren't eating what she is cooking for you, try eating smaller portions of it, along with something healthier. She might feel like you are rejecting her and her ability to nurture/feed her family.

A lot of parents get nervous when their kids go in a direction they aren't familiar with. Maybe a trip to the doc would help calm them down.

Also, a bit of bulking wouldn't be a bad idea anyway. Which would mean lifting heavy wts (getting out of BodyPump) - and eating more. End result - you have more muscle (which looks good), and they aren't so nervous.

Actually that's a great idea. Maybe you should give that a go?
