Sport Am I eating enough???

Sport Fitness
Hey Guys,

I was hoping to get a little feedback on my current diet. I seem to have plateaued a little in the weight loss department and wasn't sure whether my diet is a factor in this.

As for my stats, I am 6' and weigh approx 202 pounds. I am currently trying to reduce my bf%. I do at least 2 FBW (3 if i have time and energy) per week plus an 1.5 hour kickboxing session and a 30 interval training session. I would like to think I have a decent amount of muscle on me and I would like to define it up a little more. Most of my weight is concentrated round my mid-section.

Typical day:
Breakfast
5 weet-bix (High fibre wholegrain cereal)
Protein shake (40gms of protein)

Piece of fruit and a handful of almonds

Lunch
2 sandwiches with wholemeal bread usually containing either tuna or chicken, cheese and tomato.
Piece of fruit

Handful of almonds

Dinner
Usually meat with vegetable. Meat varies from chicken, steak, beef etc. Sometimes fish.
Protein Shake (40gms of protein)

I usually drink at least 3.5 litres of water a day too.

Weekends I usually have a cheat meal....bet it a desert or a big dinner. Nothing too terrible though. (no fast food or alcohol).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers guys,

Jarrod

We cannot really give you a well defined answer unless you give us portion sizes. Also, what is the amount of calories do you need to maintain your weight? I believe your eating pretty well. Keep it up.

PS. Maybe your consuming too much protein? I don't know if that is a lot but looks like it to me.

Disagree.

You don't really give us enough info on amounts/calories you're eating. You're probably not eating enough though. You should be eating more frequently - 6 meals per day. Take a look at the stickies. They provide lots of good advice for types of food, timing, calculating calorie amounts you need, etc.

Disagree too, you need to keep your protein intake high to try and maintain muscle while cutting fat.

Try and measure your portion sizes to find out how many calories your taking in because no one can say if you're eating enough/too little unless you have some idea.

The one thing I would suggest though is to eat more often, make the servings a bit smaller but eat about 5-6 times a day. This should stop your body from getting hungry and make it less prone to fat storage.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the help so far. Much appreciated.

So I signed up to fitday and according to their calculator I am getting around 2700 calories per day. The breakup is 27% fat, 33% carbs and 40% protein. This is coupled with 2-3 full body workouts and 2x1.25hour kick boxing classes each week. Is this enough fuel?

The annoying thing is however that I have struggled to lose weight over the last month or so. I was hovering around the 200 pound mark for a while and now I am consistently closer to 210 pounds. I have however noticed an increase in strength but I don't really feel heavier but I am not convinced I have gained close to 10 pounds of muscle.

Admittedly I have had the odd "bad meal" (desert occasionally and maybe some fries with a meal-but it is rare) but wouldn't have though it was have caused such a plateau/gain.

Anyway, enough rambling.......should I increase the calorie intake according to my stats and workout routine?

Thanks again,

Jarrod
