Am I doing something wrong?

I am a 20 year old female, five foot five and currently 150 pounds. I have been dieting (about 1200-1300 calories per day) and exercising (4 times a week for an hour) for about a year now, and I have only lost ten pounds. Sometimes I can get to about 148 but that's the lowest I've been able to go, no matter what I do, and I gain weight back really quickly. I gained ten pounds in a day once, and I couldn't lose it again for another few months. Is this normal? I've been counting up calories and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any suggestions? I've been considering seeing a doctor, but I don't have insurance so it'll probably be kind of expensive. Do you think I should make the investment? Seriously, I'm getting a little bit desperate and depressed and I don't know what else to do.Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Unless you are using different scales or weighing yourself one day at the lowest point (first thing in the morning) and comparing that to your highest point (probably after dinner), gaining 10lbs for someone your size is almost impossible. Always weight yourself first thing in the morning, before doing anything.

So a doctor for what? 150 lbs is nothing compared to what many overweight people are dealing with. When you get 250 lbs +, then maybe see someone.

For now, make sure you aren't having any sugary drinks (water only) and keep the 1300 calorie diet. It would be very hard for someone to be on a strict 1300 calorie diet and gain weight, so there might be some calories that you are not counting. Try to do some strength training exercises, too. Muscle is your calorie burner. Less muscle = slower calorie burning. And no, doing weights will not make you look like a guy. Most women don't have enough testosterone to "bulk".

This is me too! Celebrate your achievements to date and the fact you are active and healthy. It's annoying to here of people losing two stone in eight weeks when like us a half pound a week is a miracle and all that hard work doesn't seem fair. We only have to look at a bagel to feel the pounds creep on. Biggest lesson Do Not Compare yourself to others we are not all the same. Also a calorie is not just a calorie make sure you eat for nutrition.
I can easily put 7lbs on in a weekend just by eating - normally. Hope you continue slow progress is still progress. Check in with me whenever you like. We can help each other. Good luck??

Regularly check your weight ,notice by which food you are gaining and avoid that food,do regular diet & exercises by which I think additional gaining will be not be there.
