...or is the avatar function in the User CP all messed up? I've tried multiple images..in several formats on multiple different browsers.

Do I have the internet savvy of a brain-damaged chimpanzee, or have others been experiencing this?

Are you getting an error message when trying to upload?
 
Yeah, I am, if I try to do it using a link. If I upload the image via option 2, it shows up as a blank image of very small filesize, like the one that's showing for my avatar now. I'm quite mystified.
 
For option 1, I believe you need to have the picture hosted somewhere on a sever. Is this what you have? What exactly does the error say?

For option 2, what are the pixels of the image you are trying to upload and what format is it in?

I do. I'll recreate the error message and paste it here..though, I'm quite certain it's not user error at this point.

I've tried them in .gif, .jpg, and .jp2. Always under 80x80 and smaller than 19kb as it says. I think the script Sean uses is broken. Or, more likely, some element of my paranoid setup is blocking it.

Your right about option 1. I get the same error when trying to upload a pic from a server. I will let Sean know.

However I did not have any issues changing my avatar using option 2 which leads me to think that is may be a user error and I will let Sean know about that as well. I will try and upload your pic as soon as I get it.
 
Sent it off a minute ago..got distracted for a bit playing with my internet settings. Anyway, thanks again.

I'd like to see some posts from people who've tried this recently.
 
That's strange.

When I upload it via the moderator panel it shows up fine and I can see the avatar however when I click into one of your posts it doesn't show up.

I'm sure Sean will be in touch shortly to help out.

I think it may have something to do with the way the forum treats usernames with special characters in them. I notice when I click on my blank avatar image it takes me to the profile of "focus"..who seems to be someone who joined and posted once. However, when I click on my username itself, it takes me to my profile. 'Tis very odd.

Meaning, I think the avatar won't stick because the server is trying to list it as belonging to my user number but the name [Focus] doesn't match/is out of parameters. I may be way off base, here, though. I'm only taking an uninformed guess. Also, (Silent) seems to have had no trouble uploading his avatar, which I believe to be because there is no "Silent." Nonetheless, I suspect changing my username would solve the problem.

yea ... i think it has to do with the vBSEO addin. I will take a look as that is a severe error, not just a regular DB error, so it might take a bit longer to figure out.
 
Interesting. As you say, the hosted image avatar function now works again. Thanks. :D

Only thing is, my avatar still doesn't show up, using either method.
