but back to teh question at hand,, any tips to help me out with this always hungry feeling? its driving me nuts...

I think it's important to look at what you are eating - if the food you eat is more 'junk' than 'nutritious' even if your full I think your body still craves the food it needs.

I eat 8 times a day - breakfast (usually oatmeal/protein) @ 7:30, a protein bar at 10:00, salad with some protein(tuna/chicken/egg etc) for lunch at 12:00, fruit @ 2:30, yogurt/protein @ 4:30, a protein shake @ 7:00, dinner @ 8:00 (meat, a vegetable or two, a starch/carb), a protein shake @10:00, and a bowl of cheerios on my way to bed.

I supplement a lot of my food with powdered protein and I find that this helps me a lot with feeling satisfied and not hungry. On days when I eat more but not as well, I sometimes wake up at night hungry...and I ususally have yogurt/protein and it helps me sleep.

It takes some planning to eat like this but the results have been great for me.

well i guess the food hasnt been quite up to par... now I heard somewhere that it is not good to take protien powders unless you work out,, is this correct?
also, when i do get back into the gym, (i plan to renew my cntract next week when i finish school) if i take protien powders, is it recommended to nly take them after working out or use it as a snack in the day at 10-ish or 2:30ish

Including protein as well as fiber containing foods at each meal will help you feel full longer. Incorporate our suggestions and let us know how successful you are because you will be successful or we'll be forced to sick Chillen on you. Keep us updated and good luck, Greg

also stop and think if you are actually hungry. Maybe you are thirsty, or bored. Make sure you know that if you are eating it's because you are hungry and not some outside facor that you dont recognize.

gt --- good info i will definetly try the fibre/protien thing, i hope it works.

amp--- that is definetly an intersting point.. mabey drink more water??
is there a guide of who much water someone requires? not just the 10-12 glass a day, but an actuall amount? im 5'9" 235 lbs.:eek2:

what's worked for me is eating every 2-3 hours whether you are hungry or not. Also certain foods seem to keep me fuller longer. Eggs really do the trick for me.. wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla with veggies.

Also high fiber foods are suppose to get rid of hunger, maybe try flax seed.

Anyway, the best combo overall is to have a lean protein source along with a complex carb every 2-3 hours. This has been my key to success... I am cutting but never hungry because of it.

re: Water making you full. It doesnt make me full at all, ive heard that alot when i first started losing weight....i can down upwards or more then 2 litres a day....and still be hungry.

Ok, as said try eating regularly such as 6 times a day.

Focus on meeting your nutrional needs and consuming foods that have a low G.I which will keep you fuller for longer.

Have a look for wholegrain pasta, boongati rice, yohgurt fruit salad etc

In regards to the water, its a very braod idea but..

I think it may have been meant as in after you have had a meal. Having water by itself wont do anything for supressing hunger, but taken after a meal it may help to expand the stomach tricking it to be fuller than it is.

But the stomach has a number of things not just stretch that lets it know, so if you it does have an effect at all it wouldnt be very big and wouldnt last that long.

Borrow a couple bucks and start now. Once you put some sweat in, you'll feel more compelled to take care of your nutrition.

tommorow is my last day of school then test on friday,, get paid next tuesday from the government(as little as it is), so im just gunna have to wait,, i have borrowed lots to get to school---long drive everyday-- and bills and stuff.. but i know what you mean....

When I am hungry, and already close to my calorie limit. I just eat baby carrots...26 baby carrots( size of my pinkie = 38 cals..

Good deal.

I posted this in another thread (the portion about the PIG--only), and it will give you something to think about:

I read some recent articles lately, and I am going to post some thoughts based on memory of these articles, as I think its relevent to the OP's thread topic:

Sometimes we stuff our faces or drink things we know we shouldn't, and then beat ourselves up later. Blame this on your internal P.I.G.

"Problem with Immediate Gratification"

When you crave something, stop and ask yourself: Is it me that is hungry? Do I really need this, or is it my PIG?

If its your PIG you dont have to listen to it; you can distract it.

Take your PIG for a walk, feed it healthier food to satisfy the craving (like drinking several glasses of water--that should cure it....you may not want the soda or water for a few hours----> :) )

In other words have somthing in place (like have preached many times on this forum) to counter act weakness ponts. I have some ideas that you can decide to use if you want them.

Because if you keep feeding your PIG everytime its OINKS (LOL), pretty soon you gett a bigger PIG.........

The bigger the PIG the harder it is to FENCE IN.

The major part of the body that has to be intune with your cravings is your brain and using IT to combat physcial complications with cravings.

There is really no other alternative.....accept it because you simply dont have a choice if you want to stay within the framework of the goal you seek.

If you cannot act on a whim (in other words you know cravings are going to occur, and have the will and plan of action in place or strong will power) to combat these cravings, then you have to seek other alternatives until you find one that works for you. I dont want to here I tried everything......you havent.........you have tried the one the fricken works--yet.

Dont go for second BEST BABY!.........EXPRESS YOURSELF!

For nearly every I CANT there is an opposite: I CAN......FIND IT!

1. You cordinate your calories evenly divided throughout the day (Multiple meals).

2. You are going to have to make more of an investment in the I CAN combat these cravings, than investment of succumbing to them.

You develop a plan to combat these cravings, you get a pen a paper and starting "brain storming ideas" and you dont stop until ones you develop work.

Write down your strengths and weaknesses. Carry over the strengths that are applicable to combat these weaknesses.

I dont care how small they are, small steps (or temporary fixes) can lead to larger more developed fixes, and cover your entire problem in the end.

A. Yes, I recommend drinking LOTS of water, and though it may be a "temporary fix" it can temporarily fix your problem, and make you retreat to your brain, and give the break you need to re-evaluate, and allow your will power to kick in and allow you to take over the situation. I dont care if this is Crystal Lite, or another low calorie (not cola's, I dont recommend this, however) beverage.

B. Select a VERY LOW calorie item and eat the hell out of it. For example, when I hit a craving in my deficit dieting, I have been known to eat a WHOLE HEAD OF LETTUCE in one sitting with non-calorie dressing.....A whole head of lettuce has VERY LITTLE calories, and is BIG and leafy.....and will fill you up quick: This is an example, you can eat a half or what ever it takes. Believe me you wont feel like eating afterwards......LOL. :)

Get some other VEGGIES around the house, that are low calorie and carry alot of BULK--that you can tolerate and eat, and drink your water and/or crystal lite with it---ALLOW YOURSELF TIME TO MENTALLY RETREAT......while maintaining your focus and path on your goal.

C. Usa COMBO of A and B, and rid yourself from the situation: GO for a walk, go play a video game, go do some cardio (like on bike or other like equipment), and get your blood moving and pumped up.......affix yourself toward your goal path.....

You can choose to be your own enemy or your best friend.....its about choices we make whether the enemy is produced or the friend is produced.

3. Identify the things that "KILL" your appetite. If you dont know what they are-----create it. UH! What do I mean by this one? MANY things can kill an appetite quick.....we all have them---trust me.

4. Establish your personal boundaries with your people you associate with.

Let them know how important your goals are to you. Assist yourself and having them assist you through support during times of personal crisis or bumps in the road that develop.

This is a brief synopisis.

just ask yourself what all you had to eat that day and ask yourself if you really NEED that food. If you dont NEED it just don't eat it. Its a mental thing you gotta work past it but the water thing might help or you could eat like something healthy that you don't like. Eat some asparagus or something that would make me full prettly quick :p

Try this!

When I am "always hungry" even though I feel full... I just stick a piece of gum in my mouth and chew it for a couple hours. I completely forget about eating food. Finally when I spit the gum out I want food immediately though.. but at least I haven't eaten for a while and I actually AM hungry now!

In addition to my other posts I want you to read a post I made in the ChillOut Log (COL) today. Here is the link:
