Almost a pain in my nose/throat associated with breathing

I'm doing HIIT on my bike, and pushing myself incredibly hard. The main thing that seems to be limiting me is almost a pain in my nose and throat while on the high intensity portions of the ride. I'm doing my "sprinting" about 1.5minutes at a time, pushing as hard as I can. I can breathe just fine, get enough oxygen and all that but after about 30-45 seconds it really starts to hurt. Of course I push through the pain, but if this is something that can be lessened or whatever I feel it would let me have longer high intensity sets. I already asked about a blood taste I get during sessions like this, learned it was from anaerobic exertion. When I do these sessions, when I pull in to the garage and stop my throat is quite sore and the blood taste is so strong I have to spit on the ground to make sure there isn't actually blood pouring down my throat.
