Hi There,

I've completed my second week (this past monday) and as of 13 days down, I was 14 pounds lost!! but, now I've put 3 pounds back on and the scale has not budged going down.

Has this happened to anyone?

I have premeasured all my food. The only thing different is I'm using different crackers - ones that are on the list, and I don't think I drank enough water on Sunday/Monday but was back up to my regular quantity yesterday. But, it still looks like I put a pound on since yesterday.

Help?!

Ididit4me,
the same thing happened to me a few days ago. I was down 15 lbs for one day, and the next I was up two lbs. (this was pre-cheat). I just drank more water, and waited two days, and I was minus the 2 lbs plus one more. I think your body is just readjusting the weight. I notice that I stall at a weight that I had previously maintained for a long time. It's like my body doesnt want to let go of it. But I just keep on the program, and then I pass that number up. ;)

Thanks, I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I've been wracking my brain to figure this out. On sunday, I was down the 14 pounds. Then I traveled out of state to visit with some friends. I brought my lunch, and vegetables for dinner. They had chicken so I had measured that meat. Maybe there was butter or oil or something that they cooked it with. I know I did not drink any water on sunday - because I was driving I didn't want to have to go to the bathroom all the time.

But, then on Monday, I was home and got back on track with all of that. I changed crackers and am eating saltines - a generic brand. I'm wondering if that has something do with it. I don't know what to avoid in the ingredients - other than the obvious high sugar content. I am going to go back to the ones I was eating when I was losing consistently. Breton - if you've heard of them.

How far along in weeks are you on this lifestyle?

I've been doing Cohen's for two weeks. I am happy with the program, but I do so much socializing and it seems like we've been eating out constantly. So its been rough this last week, but I've decided from now on I'm just going to have to miss out on all the restaurant fun until I've lost more weight. Sitting there smelling all the wonderful foods and staring at everyone's plates takes a toll on one's psyche. Hence, I had a bad day yesterday, but am back on track. Plus, I think I'm going to stop weighing myself everyday. Maybe just once a week.

Since I'll probably have to do Cohen's for at least 6 months, I figure the more I cheat, the more I'm prolonging my time on Cohen's. Plus, I want to wear a bathing suit during the summer. I have about 80lbs more to go. Thank god for this website, or I probably would have quit by now. The support for U.S. Cohen is not that great, and I feel bad about whining to them. So I just come on this board, make a complaint/question, get wonderful feedback, and feel better about my decisions.

How much weight are you trying to lose?

soon2b,

looks like you and I are in the same boat. I started feb 5th, a little over 2 weeks ago too. I am in the eastern US and I hear ya about the support over email. I feel that we are definitely short changed by not having clinics to go to. But, then again, we don't have to pay as much as everyone else. If I had to pay 600 or 700 dollars for the program, I probably would never have done this.

I have to lose between 60-70 pounds. I would be quite happy to lose 60, but ecstatic to lose 70 (130 pounds). I really felt like I could do this all in my first 12 weeks, but maybe I'm thinking too much in too little time and setting myself up for failure.

I couldn't wait to get this diet, and then I thought I'd never get thru the first week. I've been marking the days off my calendar so that I can see the time progression and I can't believe it's been 16 completed days so far.

I was so happy with the weight loss until this setback. I have to get over it though and just say to myself that I know this will work. It will. Patience just has never been one of my finer qualities!

It will be nice to have another US-er who is on the same time frame (roughly) as me. so, be sure to keep in touch on here.

If I could figure out how to get to my existing ticker on ticker factory I would post it, but i can't figure out how to sign in once I created my original. I don't like that website.:(

Hi! I'm at work so this is just a naughty quick reply. I'm sure you would have heard the instruction "Only weigh yourself monthly". While many of us (myself included) are daily (if not multiple times a day) weighers - we do need to keep in mind that weighing daily will mean that occassionally you will see inexplicable gains on the scales.

A gain from one day to the next (even if you've always had daily losses) DOES NOT mean anything. If you were to compare your weight over a longer period such as a week or month and you notice a pattern of gains then yes it's a problem. But over a day or 2 - it's most likely just some water retention/muscle mass etc.

You know yourself if you've cheated or not. If you haven't cheated, just stick with it and that gain will drop again. If it really bothers you - stop weighing daily!

Also - make sure if you're measuring cooked meat you adjust your allowance weight to account for the shrinkage etc.

Keep up the good work.
Cheers
Linda
PS I'm not doing Cohen's but have an understanding of the diet... just like to add that disclaimer!

Thanks for the help, and I'm happy to report the 3 lb gain, is now 3 lbs lost!! Roughly anyway, I can't quite tell on my scale as if you lean a certain way the needle goes up or down!:)

I will definitely keep uup with the water as I can see that probably had the most to do with it and I've bought the original crackers I was using, so I don't have as much salt (I don't ever use salt in my cooking, never have, never will).

I think I agree that after today I will not weight myself daily. I can't guarantee that it won't happen a couple of times during the week, but I think that will be better.

I have also learned to cut myself some slack and not be so hard on myself mentally as I think that could be my downfall in the end.

I will start my daily journal on here and on the other New You Forum to keep myself up-to-date and hopefully help others that are just starting out on this journey too.

Thanks again everyone!!:D

Daily weighing

Hi guys

If you really need to weigh daily (like I do) try to do an excell graph (or a manual one) that logs your weight. That way you can see the pattern over a period of time and not fret on the odd occasion when the loss slows or even gains. I have noticed a really strong pattern over a four week time frame that co-incides with my cycle.

Keep strong and know that not only does a deviation affect your loss for up to three days but it will also make the refeed program more difficult to work out and maintain.

Hey Kath...you know - I think what the problem is with our US site .. is that we have so few Cohenites...and just about everyone is new...we just don't have all the long term dieters with lots of experience. So few people know aboutthis diet in the States. Heck, I started reading and joined this site in August... trying to get information about this diet because all we had was a few people on the E-Diet thread asking questions themselves about this diet...

So, keep on asking the questions and as more and more people join ... we will get more answers and feedback.:p
