All the questions I've been wondering for a long time now...

1: I don;t drink my RA of water a day. Can this lead to weight gain?
2: I eat more carbs than I do fat. I can't excersize because of knee trauma and my job as a games tester doesn't help... can this make me gain weight too? Even though I dont go over my Calries a day?
3: My sleeping pattern is 4am bed - 11am wake up ( 8 hours sleep ) can this effect weight loss?
4: Do periods make you gain weight for a week or so because for some reason, I just put 2 lbs on after starting my period for the first time in 18 months ( removed my Implant )
5: Is Pure Orange juice good for speeding up digestion as it contains acids?
6: If I have bready carbs vefore bed ( say half a bagel as my supper ) is that bad ( if staying under my cals per day...)
7: I have a really big appetite for none-hot meals sadly. I only eat about 1 hot meal a week... the rest is usually a sandwhich, rice bread, and soups perhaps. Is this bad?
8: Is there any healthy 'thick' food that can keep me full? I always feel a snack feeling after eating a low portion meal. Is this just the greedy side of me or am I really in need of more food? :(

Sorry for all the questions but it's driving me crazy haha! thanks so so much x

1) Is your pee dark? I don't know that too little water can lead to weight gain, but there are health benefit from adequate hydration - i.e. your urine is pale/straw yellow.
2) If you're under your calories/day it shouldn't matter that you eat more carbs than fat. Not eating enough protein could be a factor - although it's not huge.
3) The time you sleep shouldn't matter as much as quality of sleep. Quality of sleep I think can effect weight loss, although that seems one of those hazy areas (also an area I haven't really looked into)
4) Periods often cause water retention - so more water in your body, equals more weight because it's water weight. It's nothing to worry about though, you're not gaining fat or anything, it just means that your body wants to hold it's water for a bit. This can also happen after eating high salt foods. ... I guess this means in a way not getting enough water might affect weight loss in that the more water you drink, the less water you tend to retain. It wouldn't effect fat loss.
5) Um. No, your stomach acids generally do the job. What exactly do you mean by 'speeding up digestion' though? Do you want to feel hungry sooner? ;)
6) Probably not, unless the bagel makes you really hungry and you eat more calories the next day. It's generally a good idea to get some protein with every meal to keep you feeling satiated.
7) The heat part doesn't really matter. If you're eating a bunch of processed crap that might matter. There's a difference between soup with ingredients you recognize and soup with who knows what in there, added sugars etc.
8) It's more complicated than a greedy side - your stomach doesn't know how many calories were in your meal, just how much you ate in volume. High protein, high fiber foods tend to be the most filling. Lean meats are good, you can find some high fiber pasta and bread products, of course there are veggies - you can eat a LOT of veggies for low calories. I'll drag out one of my favorite examples - A Subway 6 Inch Black Forest Ham has under 400 calories. Two Subway chocolate chip cookies have 400 calories. The sub is waaaaay more filling than the cookies despite having the same # of calories. So if you eat the sandwich instead of the cookies you should feel more full. Liquid calories are the least filling - so orange juice doesn't register as any more filling than water, despite having a lot more calories. Does that make sense?

Aw wow thanks so much!

Grr, I have such a big appetite for Subways. I have to have 12 inches.. I only ever get ham or turkey though with all Veg.

Now I know this one is weird... but how often should I poop? :(

I usually only go once every 2-3 days sometimes.

Hehe. I get the black forest ham with all the veggies except pepper + cheese + oil & vinegar and salt & pepper on the honey whole wheat. It's actually less than 400 calories and would be even less if I left of the cheese and the oil.

It's definitely better to eat a 12 inch than a 6 inch and the cookies ;) I used to only eat the foot long, but I've been training myself...

Not sure on the poo question... I think I'm every day or two, but it's not something I've actually read anything reliable on.

Well, how often you should poop really depends on a shitload of things, and MANY people have... exceptionally bad habits when it comes to pooping. Like, girls having trained themselves to ignore pooplust because "girls don't poop" etc. But, in general, pooping daily is the norm. Unless you are in some sort of discomfort tho, I wouldn't worry about it. It also has a lot to do with what and how much you eat. Fibers make you poop more since they grow huge in the intestines with all the water they bind... for instance.

For filling the stomach, I'd say go for like... cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, cales of all sorts. .Those pack a ton of filling per calorie :)

But, I think it is individual what is satiating to people. I mean.. some people can get full from eating cucumber, I can't I just feel bloated and hungry after eating it :)

Nah I dont ever feel in doscomfort.
I just have this frame of mind where 'I weighed myself today, and it didnt change. Could that be my poop'

Very silly I know lol!

I usually sart the day with fruit and fibre, or a bagel if Im in no rush to get out.

Weight fluctuated daily due to poop, salt = water retention and all sorts of crap. Weigh yourself with the purpose of measuring weight loss achievements weekly, MAX. I weigh myself daily but thats just for shit and giggles, and because I like statistics and such. I sometimes weight 2kg more one day and then it drops down etc. It is down to water retention, poop, pee and idunno.. the wonders of non-precise consumer bathroom weights :)

I keep a strict excel spreadsheet of my weight, and log weight vs time, and let me tell you, one day last week I pooped 3 times in one day and lost 1.8kg. No kidding. So poop does make a difference. I've timed my body into pooping first thing in the morning, so I always weigh myself every morning, butt naked, post-poop. Its the best time to do it.

But on the very rare morning I dont' poop, I am horrified by how much heavier I am!

But realistically I think the best time to weight yourself is once a month....I just like logging my daily weight as it is so interesting to see the fluctuations and what affects it, i.e. poop, salty dinners, and menstruation. Before my period is due, I put on 6lbs, it is disgusting, then it takes 10 days to return to my original weight. Ridiculous.

Another shocker is a night out...if I have say, 3 glasses of wine and a nice meal, guaranteed I weight 2kg more the next morning, even post-poop. Pisses me off. Then it takes about 72 hours to return to original weight.

So yeah, if you wanna see the numbers drop, do a big poop, don't eat salty foods and try steer clear of booze.

Obviously eat healthily and exercise regularly as well.

:)

You made a pun. It's a shitty pun, but a pun none-the-less.

HA...see what I did there?

HAHAHAHA pooplust?

Hehe yes, I pondered going "pun intended" but that just seems so meta intellectual.

And yes, pooplust! It is a combination of actually needing to poop, and a need for some seclusion which often includes reading magazines, this combines into the pooplust factor.

Obvious evidence of girls learning to ignore it is the common lack of girl-owned magazines and books in pooprooms.

See, the only pooplust I was aware of came in the form of 2 Girls, 1 Cup. And, when I saw that, it made me throw up all over the place...and then eat it.

:puke: :drool5:

I mean...

:leaving:

Oh, I somehow feel tempted to put images in here that'd make me feel the banhammer of doom, so I'll resist. I will say... stuff from the ED page about being offended.

:)
