Advice to a Newbie

Some things you read on the various forums.

Like this "classic" piece of advice from someone purporting to be a personal trainer to a newbie asking how he should be training.

What people don't understand is to be in peak shape at any age you have to flat out bust your ass almost every day. I don't mean oh just get to the gym and maybe push some weights around, no I mean really kill yourself. Granted some may not be able to do this if they have a heart condition such as yours or other medical problems.

Sometimes you just wonder how much the field of fitness/personal training has really advanced in the past 50 years.
 
there's a big difference between killing yourself and just going thru the motions...

I see a lot of the trixies in my gym just go thru the motions... heaven forbid they break a sweat... but the other extreme is just dangerous...
