Hey everyone, just after some advice really. I've seen him on TV many times saying he can make you thin and you don't even have to diet! You just have these 4 rules: Eat when your hungry, eat what you want, stop when you feel full, eat conciously... along them lines anyways lol.

Just wondered if anyone heard about this, any opinions on whether it would work and if anyone has tried it... good or bad results...?

Thanks, this would really help as im considering doing it

Hi Jader

To be honest I don't know but I have just ordered his 'I can make you thin' so I'll try it out and review it here. He has really good feedback and I believe alot of the issue is to do with 'thinking' and changing our mindsets.

Well...to a point all that is true

1) Eat when you are hungry translates into Avoid non-needed eating such as eating for emotional reasons.

2) Eat what you want and Eat consciously counter each other. There really is no such thing as a diet where you can eat just what you want because if I want to eat krispy kream donuts for every meal, that's not going to work for weight loss. That is where the consciously comes into play. It kinda translates into 'common sense' or 'balance'. Think about what you eat. For your goal, you will see you will try to eat things that are better for you and not loaded with calories.

3) Eat till you are full is just what it sounds like. A better subrule is Eat slower. It takes around 15 minutes for your stomach to signal you are full. As a society, we tend to eat faster than we should. That tends to lead to overeating. This is why many 'diets' suggest things like eating only at the table with no TV or distractions as well as put your fork down after every bite. Slowing your eating will definitely add to your weight loss.

My opinion:

I tried the McKenna, only because I was very curious to see how it works. Hypnosis didn't do a thing for me, and the main concepts do make sense of course, but if things were that easily applied, I don't think we would all be facing weight problems. Surely in some part of our minds, we all know that eating is for when we're hungry, and when we're full we should stop... etc. I didn't learn anything from his lectures than what I'd have picked up on this forum, or say on my favorite calorie tracking site (sparkpeople) where I can read daily articles and learn. Our behavior and psychological culprits are also things that need to be addressed directly. (as in WHY do we keep eating after we're full, or if we're not hungry) I prefer the scientific explanation with a good solution.

All in all, it was too generalized for me. It didn't do anything.
