Advice on home made exercise routine

Hi everyone, thank you for taking the time to read this :)

I am looking to lose weight and need some advice on the exercise side of things. I plan to exercise 6 days and take Sunday as a rest day :) I plan on doing the Couch to 5K jogging programme 3 times a week and weight training the other 3. I have dumbells in my home, and is the only weight/resistance gear I have. I was just wondering, if I jogged the 20-30 mins a day, and alternated that with a full body workout spread across the other three days (also lasting 20-30 mins) would this be enough? Would I need to do more every day? Maybe incorporate a walk or cycling? Should I really be doing cardio every day, instead of 3?

I would like to know as I currently have access to no gym or trainer etc, going it on my own for now, and would like advice on my questions or maybe on what weight lifting exercises are best :)

I think that you've set yourself up for a really great start in terms of exercise. Whether it will be enough to lose weight will completely depend on your nutrition and the amount of calories that you eat each day. Just take it bit by bit, don't wait until you have the perfect plan in place and all your questions answered before you start. Just get out and start exercising regularly, then make changes as you go.

As for exercises, here are some exercises that you can pick from: http://www.fitness.com/exercises/

Do a search for dumbell exercises, then pick somewhere between 8-12 exercises that cover the whole body. You might also want to search for core exercises and include a couple in your list. If you want, list them here and we can give you some feedback on what you choose. I'm leaving it up to you to choose which exercises because only you know what injuries/limitations you might have at this point.

Hi, sorry for the late reply , I was very busy with important family stuff until now! I have taken a look and have chosen the following exercises from a different workout routine how does this look

Week 1 Day 1

5X5 Deadlift

5x5 bent over row

5x5 military press

Week 1 Day 2

5x5 Dumbell Squats

5x5 Dumbell bench press

2xmax reps bicep curls

Week 1 Day 3

5X5 Deadlift

5x5 bent over row

5x5 military press

For week two I basically alternate the exercises to get a fair balance, then week 3 is week 1 again etc.

Does this look ok along with cardio? :) And I also plan on doing some core exercises too :)

Indeed it is :D
