Advice needed on toning up

Hi, I recently started running daily. I run about a mile walk a half mile and then run another half mile. I am looking to tone up and lose my body fat. I weigh about 125 pounds im 5'3 and im 19. Any advise on a diet ( good amount of carb/ calorie etc. intake ) and also some weight traning that I could do at home to help tone would be greatly appreciated. ( mainly focusing on my thighs and lower abs )

Hi there! If you are trying to lose fat an get a toned look it is important for you to focus on all of your muscle groups when you weight train. If you do a fair amount of cardio and eat a calorie deficit to lose fat you are also going to lose some muscle. Not only will losing muscle make your metabolism slow down but it will be going against getting that toned look you want. Buy lots of free weights and you can get exercises from websites. Make sure you are challenging every muscle group. Lift heavy and hard. Here are a couple websites that show exercises for each body part:

As for diet, there is no perfect ratio or perfect amount of calories for everyone. A popular ratio is 40carb/40protein/20fat. That's what I use and it works for me. What s your diet like now? Maybe people can give you some suggestions for changes if you let us know what you are eating now.

Hope I have been helpful.
