I'm thinking about doing an adventure race. I'm trying to calculate my required dietary needs for the duration of the race, since I need to pack my own fuels. The race seems to be predominantly running, rowing, and biking, with some belaying, portaging, etc. in there.
On an event that is 8 hours I should be adding my BMR caloric need on top of the exercise caloric need?
What is the best way to calculate expenditure for running, biking, and canoeing individually?
We get the course map day-of, so I'm trying to do my best to forecast what the race will be composed of. What I've come up with is a 10/25/40, running/canoing/biking. Thoughts?
I've read in multiple places about a protein-loaded fuel, online, mens health, and Nancy Clarks Sport Nutrition. Accelerade seems to be a brand that offers this? Any thoughts on it?
Salt - what of it?
I know this won't be exact, but I don't want to bonk out or start crying on the field. I've completed a sprint length triathlon, but nothing like this, so I want to be as prepared as possible.
