Adding Cardio into my weekly training???

So here's the thing i've been weight training for as long as i can remember and finally i want to incorporate some cardio into my weekly regime? So the problem with that is that i have never been much of a runner, a sprinter yes but running for any great length of time no! So my plan is to run 5km at least twice a week so that i can help lose the auld xmas build up around the waist and to tighten everything up a bit whilst also getting fit. So my question is am currently 37 years old and weight in at 196lbs is the 5km twice a week a good enough distance to cover per week keeping in mind i will still be lifting weights 3 times a week with high intensity? :costumed6:

I started off on the bike, then I gradually made my way unto the treadmil walking, then a brisk walk to a jog, now I'm running.

hope this helps

increase in moderation, is key

Making a plan is not to difficult but the success lies on implementation. Your plan is good but it should have been better.

Age is not a factor but what really matter is a strong will power. My suggestion is that you need to run at least 4/5 times per week at the initial stage. If you run 1 km for per day then it would not be too difficult to run 5 km for 5 days. Maintain it for at least two week.

After two week go to little bit advanced plan. Try to run at least 1.5 km for per hour. Maintain it strictly. Mind it now you are in advanced level. Just adjust yourself. Revise your structure time to time. One day you would see the result what you are looking for.
