I did that ....
I did the Abs Diet. Good information, but too hard for me to follow. I felt like it took up alot of time preparing everything. I was trying to make the recipes from it, and alot of it I didn't really like. Plus, I did it for about 2-2 1/2 weeks and lost nothing.
Now I have been watching my calorie intake and eating what I like, but making smarter food choices. I am down 11 lbs in 3 weeks !!
Everyone is different, so it could work for the right person. If I were you I would go spend some time at the bookstore and read some of it before you buy it.
