If you eat regularly every 2-3 hours, but every now and then you go a day without eating.. is that enough to slow down your metabolism? When I am at work, I "graze" the whole time I am there. But on my days off, I'm too sick and tired, and have no appetite. My job is very stressful, so on my days off, it takes a lot to recuperate. I combat migraines, and I don't usually feel like eating very much when I'm nauseated. I will just have bites here and there. Then the next day, I usually bounce back and eat normally again. How many days of fasting or eating very little would it take before it affected your metabolism?

wow, if your job is that stressful, you're fighting high cortisol levels constantly, and that's gonna hinder fat loss and muscle gain for sure.

IMO, even one day of fasting is bad, because it confuses the body. Teh body is basically an organic machine, and it adapts to what its fed, to give consistent results.

I agree with Malkore. I think we all have days where we have no appetite and don't feel well. I would recommend trying to find something light that your body can agree with. Even if you don't eat as much as other days, at least get some food in.

Don't go days without eating. You'll just ruin your metabolism. There are days where life just happens and we're stressed. Eat anyways. Break your meals up into even smaller meals and graze. But don't just not eat.

No I don't go days without eating. My post wasn't very clear. I meant on my days off, I usually have a migraine the first day, and can't eat (nausea & vomiting accompany my migraines).. then I bounce back the next day and eat normally again. It's usually just one or two days per week that I don't get much food in. I still eat SOMETHING on those days, but not very much. I spend most of that time asleep. I was given a new medication for my migraines though so hopefully this problem will soon be eliminated!
