About me and my Running

Im 25 this year. Its quite a long time since I did regular exercise, School I would say. I was good at Sprints but never at any type of Distance Running, probably lost the sprinting now.

Over the last few years I have tried to start doing some running, sometimes it would go ok and then others past injuries & pains would come back.

I used to play 5-aside football at school, one day my turned my ankle, pretty much 90degrees,it went black and I hobbled around for a long time and it has never really felt the same since, for whatever reasons I didnt consult a doctor.

Anyway on this ankle and also just above my Feet, where the Ankle area is, when running it would feel really Stiff and be very painful, even when just walking after running it would be painful and eventually ease down, i put this down to my past injury which i didnt get looked at.

Having just moved house Ive tried running again. This time its been fairly successful, completing a distance of 2miles, you have to start somewhere. the second mile is the hardest as its a slight incline to where I started from. Taking me between 17-20minutes to complete the Two Miles.

I have done this maybe once or twice a week to try and build up my respiration for Running & muscles and not pushing myself far too much and causing Strains, especially on the area mentioned above.

The last run I did , I had the pains mentioned just below the ankle. Could be be that I didnt stretch enough, i make a point of stretching my ankles quite a bit because of the problems they give me. Im not overweight.

I would like to try and keep running consistently rather than having 1 phase of it per year and then stopping.

What would be the best option for me, in the event my next outing is painless. How should I start to improve. Should I push myself harder to try and do the 2mile run faster, I feel that the second half with the incline could cause my ankle trouble and im unfortunate that I do not have an equal level surface to run on, only at work and I would like to build up my fitness before doing so.

Or should I simply jog/run for a set amount of time, instead of distances?

Any advice on my Pains would be great too.

Thanks

Lee
