Weight-Loss A small nutrition question about carbs and body fat.

Weight-Loss
Ok so I have been trying to learn more about nutrition and I'm reading a section reading about fats.

It stated in a book that glucose is the body's basic or first source of energy. It continued to say that(for the body) burning glucose is easier than burning body fat.

So my question is should I limit my carbs in the morning in order to maximize my body's ability to burn more body fat?

Right now I'm eating a rich breakfast in carbohydrates, right before the gym. I do this cause I believe it would help provide energy for my workout, but if my goal is to maximize burning body fat then would it be better to decrease my carbs and consume a little more protein in the mornings?

What are your opinions?

Thank you.

A little more protein in the morning is almost good as it was proven to fill you up longer so less likely to snack and therefore lose weight!

Personally, I have protein rich foods before the gym, rather than carbs and I find it has worked well and I don't get that heavy feeling from having like pasta or something.

pretty much every fat cutting diet for anyone who has to cut body fat for athletics or aesthetics is carb limited. This is the number 1 golden rule, to cut body fat, you cut carbs.

But it's not just in the morning. it's total carbs throughout the day that matter. For a normal healthy fat cutting diet, make carbs ~40% of your total calories consumed. And for sure no lower than 30%. Once you start reaching for single digit body fat numbers, then you need to go a lil more advanced and look into carb cycling diets and the like, but thats only for advanced level training. not something most people here would need to worry about.

The one thing i find to be VERY common in most every diet i've ever looked at, is that they are carb heavy. without exception when i'm told by a client that they are watching what they eat, and are eating healthy, but still not losing weight, is when I look at their diet, it's 80% carbs. healthy carbs yes, but they eat zero fat, a little protein, and the rest carbs.

So moral of the story, watch what you eat, get a proper macro balance of your nutrients, and it will take you far. Don't worry about carbs just in the morning, worry about them throughout the day as a whole.

Eating carbs raises your blood sugar level very quickly (more or less, depending on the specific glycemic index of the particular ingredient), which in response raises your insulin to high levels. High insulin levels block your body's ability to burn stored fat, and at the same time it tells your body to store more fat. After the insulin has stored all that blood sugar as fat, you get low blood sugar and crave the same carbs again to pick you back up and make you feel better - it has nothing to do with starvation. This is the difference between carb addiction and hunger. You break the carb addiction and you will learn what hunger truly is. True hunger does not come every 3 or 4 hours, it takes a day or two. True hunger does not make you angry and shaking, but a blood sugar crash from eating carbs will.

Do you seriously want to lose a serious amount of weight? Go cold-turkey and just 100% stop eating rice, potatoes, bread, pasta, cookies, crackers, biscuits, as well as any other form of grain (includes beer). Anything made with any amount of flour is a no-no. I have done this for 4 1/2 months so far (am still doing it), and I went from 100kg in mid-July to 75kg today. You can not even imagine how much better I look and feel, and how dramatically my health and self-esteem has improved.

You mean you eat no carbs? I was just wishing to cut my carbs even more, but is it really healthy to go without carbs?

Thank you everyone for your replies.

No, I mean eat no simple carbs. Simple carbs are high glycemic index, which spikes insulin. Complex carbs are broken down more slowly by the body, so the insulin response is moderate and level.

Examples of complex carbs are lentils, beans, carrots... One of my favorite dinner meals is a chicken breast and some refried beans with chipotle sauce over both of them.

The key is to eat only complex carbs, and even then to limit your daily intake of them to less than 50 grams per day. 50 grams of carbs doesn't mean that you could only eat 50 grams of beans... Refried beans are about 16% carbs, so you could eat 200g, and this is 190 kcal and 32 grams of carbs.
