I was wondering if anyone can help -

Im on a no carbohydrates for my meal in the afternoon.

Im suffering with idea's what to have and because i like a selected amount of vegtables (Brocolli, raw carrots, peas) its hard

does anyone have any idea's of meals i can have/things to make it more intresting for me?

It seems that any fresh veggies cut up in a salad w/ work, wouldn't they? Are you tracking your daily menu on daily plate.com or a place like that? I'm just wondering because there are good carbs to eat too. Your body needs them for energy.

I don't think it's possible to eat a meal that truly has 0 carbs unless it's going to be a meal completely of meat.

Anything other than animal protein - chicken, pork, etc. is going to have carbs in it, even if just 1 or 2 mg.

i would be moreso interested in your diet. i've never heard of anything like a no carb meal before. it seems silly...

that being said, meats are the solution you're looking for.

i might of heard the trainer wrong but im sure she said no carbs, i think it was more aimed at pasta/potatoes turning into fat in the afternoon.

However looking on dailyplate.com (ive signed up - great site, thanks) that vegtables/fruit contain carbs. I think ill go for a quater of what i used to have to give it something diffrent and with my workout it wont matter too much.

cheers

Uh ... if he told you that, then he needs to quit his job and take up something he knows more about.

That might be one of the more ridiculous things I've heard in a long line of ridiculous diet myths. Pasta and potatoes don't "turn into fat" ... not in the afternoon, day, evening, or at 3 a.m.

Good grief.

Joanna Hall writes in the UK that many people would benefit from a carb curfew. I think that your trainer is basically misquoting her - or believing that you (like many people) understand the term carbs as just bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, cereals.

She includes some carb curfew recipes in her books and there are some on her website.

She makes the point in her books that the point of the 5pm concept is to get people out of the mindset of snacking on restricted foods at night.

She does say that there is no other reason (e.g. timing) for it being the evening meal and you can switch the restricted meal to one of the other meals.

She believes that the carb curfew is a simple way of steering people towards a low GL diet.

Ah that makes much more sense! :)

Since I've been experimenting with IF, I've instituted a cutoff for eating at 9:30 (not just carbs, but all food). It definitely cuts down on spur of the moment snacking when you set a final meal time. It also helps with kitchen cleanup- but that's probably another thread! :)

But no food just turns into fat - at any time of the day or night. All foods are metabolized and processed by your body and will be used or stored. :)

LOL - and one area where I probably need more advice than most people on the forum.

I suspect that you are ok with recipes now that you understand what you are trying to restrict. If interested there are about 50 pages of eating plan suggestions / recipes in her "Drop a size for life" book.
