Hello to all.. I am so excited to see this website and read the posts..its so nice to know im not the only one who struggles w/ my weight. I think the reason I am here most of all is for motivation and to have people to share my ups and downs w/ regarding my losses and gains. I have struggled my whole life w/ this and im tired of making my own excuses as to why i never last more than a couple of months on the right track..hence my title ;-D
I am 33 and I am 5'6" and I weigh 262. My dad was recently diagnosed as a diabetic and that scared the crapola out of me...so for me, for my kids...for my future im kickin the scale out of the way and just concentrating on one day at a time..
Any ideas on motivations..I would love any support! thanks!

I know what your going through.

Hi, I too just found this site(3 days ago) people are very encouraging here and have allot of great advice. Your story is very familiar to me. At my highest weight i was 262lbs and i know what it's like to struggle with weight. i think your right the scale keeps us tied down to a number and not to the fact that we have to work on our health too.Small changes make a big diffrence and your right you have to take it a step at a time.

Glad to have you with us!! My favorite saying lately has been "Take one day at a time" and if I have to, "take one hour at a time"

Thanks so much for your kind words and encouragements. I soo feel that the scale has been an enemy to me and not a help. I truly believe when i see myself not doing well according to that number I go the opposite way i should and tend to lose faith and give up or binge or whatever. I am finding just making time for myself very very early .. 6 am before everyone gets up in the house..is a guaranteed exercise time for me..and so far its working. I walk w/ a friend of mine and that helps alot (even though she is not overweight). I definetely know as I get older that my weight doesnt define me..and im the only one who gets held up by that.

Boy you arent kidding..and w/ kids man oh man.. an hour can be filled w/ lots of ups and downs. I never know when im going to have time for myself and sometimes just saying that phrase makes me laugh outloud. My hubby is self employed so he is not home until late so i get to do most everything from 8am till 8pm, unless im at work.
I have found that each day is new and I cannot keep allowing my past to dictate my future..now if i can just keep pluggin on. This site helps..and all of you especially.

I've just gone to my diary and all i can say is wow :) I truely have never been told i'm an insperation befor let alone 2x in one day :) thank you until i got those messages i was having a bad day but your message has turned that around :D :D I too have 2 kids a boy 6 and a girl 2, so i know how busy it can get :) my husband is gone long/odd hrs so i know about not having time for your self. some times you have to make time (lol,like that can ever be easy) like i said befor 1 step(some times baby ones)is all we can do

Oh. and i think Christina is pretty good i just don"t let any body else know about it :p

I truly believe that people dont tell each other enough good things...so thats my motto..if i think it say it (as long as its nice) ...
You have come from where I am and have continued to be successful. It is a war against your body and your mind.. it is soo tough. I have been through many difficult things in my life and this is the toughest. I think anyone who handles all that life has to offer and still takes care of themselves should get a medal of honor. Your situation sounds so much like mine its crazy. Hello there .

Here is where it all begins,..where you bare your soul,..or your diet soul :p ,..if you read the beginning of most of the old timers diaries ,..you will see that we wrote long personal self discovery epics,..to find our way along,..we have laughed at ourselves, we have been discouraged, some leave and more like yourself arrive...but the wonderful thing is every one here just understands, supports and encourages. YOu truly could not get this for any pricetag. Some of us have kids and are married,....some are young ladies in school with exciting challenges, and we even have some really nice and helpful gentlemen here as well...but we all have a common ground, whether its 5lbs or 100lbs we are trying to lose weight, have a healthier lifestyle and support each other along the way. Look forward to your post and learning about the healthier you!!!!!
