I am completely new to this, and not sure where to start but I struggle personally with commitment and motivation. I am a young 20 year old that is 6 ft and weighing roughly around 300 pounds. I am not sure how the weightloss thing works but I am willing to give it a try. I signed up to this website because I seek a positive, motivating community that will edge me forward to meet my goals... I am a full time student and spend most of my time in the class room or studying for school and often do not know what to eat, and end up going throughout the whole day starving until I get home and make a huge meal. If someone could give me ideas what I can take to school to minimze my hunger and still stay healthy, and what I can do to minimize my craving and hunger for food. That would be very helpful and I hope I can make a friend or two in these forums.

Hi Paul. A belated welcome to the forum. I only just saw this post. I check diaries every day but only occasionally look in other sections. To get good support I would suggest copying your post over into the diary section at http://weight-loss.fitness.com/forums/9-weight-loss-diary Cheers, Cate

I'm right there with you, bro. I weighed 305 at the beginning of my journey in February of this year. I'm down to 280 now. If I can do it, so can you.

My advice -- make your meals in advance for the entire week. You'll know what you're eating and be conscious of it, can take a lunch with you and have a more balanced day with your body. You can set aside a day and get this worked out. Waiting to have one huge meal at the end of the day when your metabolism has slowed and body is conserving everything due to not getting energy doesn't work out well long term. For snacking that you can take on the go as well in-between meals, pick up some Nature Valley bars. I'd recommend the nut crunch with almonds, nuts, snowflowers as those are all good things to help boost metabolism. Personally, this is what I'd recommend.

Breakfast -- 16oz of cold water first when you wake up, two whole eggs, small piece of boneless-skinless chicken, piece of fruit (grapefruit, kiwi, orange).

Lunch -- normal sized boneless-skinless chicken breast, vegetable (broccoli, green beans, carrots, cauliflower, etc), some cucumber slices, maybe a fruit.

Snack -- green tea and one of those protein bars.

Dinner -- medium boneless-skinless chicken breast, vegetables, fruit if you didn't have one at lunch or go ahead if its a small fruit.

I say chicken every time because that's what I'm doing, but it can get tedious. Mix in other lean meats like turkey, fish. However, you don't NEED to follow this guideline to lose weight. You really just need to watch the calories you're taking in. So technically you could eat anything -- in moderation.

Hope it helps someway.

what I read from your story is that you are oposite to my eatings:
I have breakfast as an emperor and lunch as a king, then at dinner time I eat like a beggar.
Especially late at night watch your carbs, low carbs is best for loosing weight especially at night

^^ dudeitstime gave some great advice! Everyone's path to success is different, but for me I've found that having meals prepared ahead of time has been super helpful! Sometimes it's hard to get over cravings for certain things, so eating the regular chicken/broccoli/rice combo can get a bit difficult, but there are some GREAT recipes out there that mimic some of my favorite foods that are still within my calorie/nutrition range :) Also, I carry Quest bars with me when I need a snack between meals. They have a lot of protein and are really nutritionally balanced for my nutritional goals. My favorite flavor is cookie dough, if you're wanting to give those a try! Also, I try to drink about a gallon of water a day. Helps a lot of getting rid of cravings as well!

Good luck! :)

Paul,

I commend you for reaching out for help. A good diet is going to be the key for losing weight. Starving or depriving your self is the last thing you want to do. By not eating, your slowing down your metabolism and any weight that you do lose will most likely be muscle. I'm not sure how your diet is when you do eat, but If you start off by making a few changes like cutting out processed foods, fast food and soda pop you'll lose weight right off the bat. Eat well balanced meals through out the day. This includes protein, complex carbs and plenty of fruits and veggies. As far as taking food for school...some type of protein, nuts (almonds), fruit, veggies.

Congratulations on your weight loss! Great advice on preparing meals for the week. Doing those extra things pay off big in the end. Are you exercising as well?

Stop eating oily foods and do some yoga exercise. Drink lots of water. I think you will be fine.
