a mile in my shoes

I ran a full mile today with no stopping. Only took me 12.30..lol. I know that some people walk it that quickly but I dont care. I set a goal and I met it. Now I'll work on improving on that.

....then I went to chilli's and cheated on my diet:( Well not that bad. I had chicken and shrimp fajitas and I left the cheese and sour cream on the plate. So not so bad calorie wise but I did scarf 3 tortillas worth of carbs.

I keep going 3 days on my diet and then I'll eat something that will spike my carbs a bit. I'll never reach keytosis this way. I think I'm gonna cut everything good out and just do tuna, chicken, protein shakes, and spinach salad for a week. Then I'll add in some salmon and other stuff and think I'm in heaven. The best way to appreciate something is to deprive yourself of it. That ought to stop me from my derailing carb binges.

Congrats man! Just keep making goals and going for them. Pretty soon you'll end up running a marathon like me :D.

I know what you mean about appreciating something more when you dont have it ever. I read (on here I think) that the difference between 90% and 100% diet wise is not much and that you can allow one "bad" meal per week. Well, I think Monday was my "bad" meal. It was delicious. I dont remember the last pasta I had, so I had some rigatoni with alfredo sauce and a ice cream cone. I still wanted to be marginally good so I didnt have much ice cream (or pasta for that matter), but I tell you what, there is no ice cream that tastes better than the first ice cream you have had in a few months.

Thanks guys. I know it doesnt seem like much but thats how I get started. I can recall being totally exhausted in the ring when I used to box. My mind was pulling me in two directions. On one hand I could lay up and hope the judges gave the fight to me. On the other, I could push myself even harder when I felt I couldn't throw another punch and give them no choice but to award me the fight. Doing it once in either direction(I have done both) made it easier to choose that direction the next time I fought.

So I had the same experience lugging my hefty 256 lbs around the track and I opted to overcome the pain. It's a small feat but it will have a huge effect on my progress.
